Dragon Ball is one of the most popular shonen series of all time. While the first anime was decently popular in its own right, it was the advent of Dragon Ball Z that let a new generation witness some of the greatest anime moments of all time and cemented Dragon Ball as a legendary series that would remain relevant for quite some time. The sheer boosts in power experienced by the Saiyans in the series made for a great time indeed.

That being said, there were certain important characters that were left in the dust because they simply couldn't hack it with the rest of the Z Warriors. However, these fighters still have some pretty powerful abilities that can be used to turn the tide of battle, even if their actual power level isn't anything impressive. Here are some of the weaker characters in the series who have really overpowered abilities.

7 Tri-Beam (Tien)

Tien is a pretty strong human who gave Goku a pretty tough time during Dragon Ball. However, with the advent of Dragon Ball Z, it was clear that Tien's power was simply too low to really stand a chance against more powerful fighters.

However, for what it's worth, Tien did end up training at times to increase his power level. The technique that benefited most from this was his Tri-Beam, which sucked his life force to deal a devastating blow that could take many strong fighters out of commission.

6 Destructo Disc (Krillin)

Krillin is a fighter that a lot of people love making fun of. The character trained under Master Roshi along with Goku, but the latter's origins as a Saiyan meant that his power ceiling was on a completely different level. As a result, Krillin was left behind in the dust, with his lack of power even being made fun of in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero.

However, to say that Krillin is completely useless in battle is a pretty erroneous statement to make. He can definitely pull his weight when the situation calls for it, with his Destructo Disc being extremely helpful to take out foes and keep them on their toes, given the immense cutting power of this unique attack.

5 Kamehameha (Master Roshi)

The Kamehameha is one of the most powerful attacks in the entirety of Dragon Ball. This technique was taught by the powerful Master Roshi to his students, with Goku making the most of this iconic beam attack to take out the toughest foes around by pouring as much energy into this attack as possible.

For the most part, Master Roshi was retired and didn't really play a major role in any of the fights in Dragon Ball Z. However, he ended up being pretty important in Dragon Ball Super as one of the members of the Universe 7 team, pulling off this move to take out fighters before being knocked out.

4 Transfiguration Beam (Majin Buu)

Majin Buu was one of the biggest threats at the end of Dragon Ball Z, with his rampant and needless destruction being pretty intimidating to behold firsthand. However, it turned out that this character simply didn't know any better and just wanted to have good food and sleep as much as possible.

This led to him becoming a good character who is slightly irrelevant with the advent of Dragon Ball Super. He's still pretty powerful, with his Transfiguration Beam turning the toughest fighters into chocolate or candy, depending on what he wants.

3 The Gotenks Fusion (Trunks And Goten)

Trunks and Goten were definitely Saiyans with a ton of potential, but it was clear that their individual might wouldn't be enough to fight against a threat as powerful as Majin Buu. So, Piccolo decided to teach them the Fusion Dance so that they could combine their power levels and fight Buu on equal ground.

This Gotenks fusion was extremely powerful and let two relatively weak fighters become one of the strongest beings on the planet at that point. The appearance of this fused character has been pretty sporadic ever since the Buu Saga, but there's no denying that a fusion of this caliber is bound to have a ton of power indeed.

2 Spirit Cannon (Bardock)

Goku's father is a pretty great character who gets his time to shine in The Episode of Bardock. He's clearly a powerful warrior, although he didn't stand a chance against the might of Frieza no matter how hard he tried.

One of Bardock's attacks that hit like a truck was the Spirit Cannon, which is easily his signature attack by a country mile. While it didn't do anything against Frieza's massive planet-destroying attack, his move can still be pretty dangerous when thrown at the source.

1 Body Change (Captain Ginyu)

The Ginyu Force was one of the most powerful threats in the Namek Saga at one point. Vegeta was shivering at the sight of this elite force that could decimate most of its enemies with the greatest of ease.

The head of this force was Captain Ginyu, who was pretty powerful but didn't hold a candle to Goku's massive increase in strength when he landed on Planet Namek. However, with his Body Change technique, he was able to take over the Saiyan's body and cause a ton of mayhem before his threat was annulled for good.
