Dragon Ball: The Breakers’ third season introduces a new set of Raider and Survivor characters to the game, which includes the iconic Ginyu Force of the Namek Saga. Dragon Ball: The Breakers launched last year, being Bandai Namco’s take on the asymmetrical multiplayer genre. It’s one of the more unique Dragon Ball video games in the past few years after several fighting games and 3D arena fighters like Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. While the game has had a mixed reception, it’s still being supported with seasonal content.

For the uninitiated, Raiders are powerful characters who are tasked with defeating all the other players, while the Survivors team up to try and escape from them. The first season launched with the three most iconic DBZ-era villains as these Raiders, those being Cell, Frieza, and Majin Buu. The second season of The Breakers added Vegeta as he appeared during the Saiyan Saga. The third season shall come with a new villain that players can torment survivors with, the colorful Super Sentai squad parody of the Namek Saga, the Ginyu Force.

This was first revealed in a special livestream announcing Season 3 on Bandai Namco’s YouTube channel, announcing that these additions will be arriving to the game on June 9. The Ginyu Force is described as being a Team-type of Raider, where players can play as all five members of the dairy-inspired platoon based on their current level. At the first level, Guldo can use his Telekinesis or Time Freeze ability to halt survivor players in place, setting up for high damage. The second level is Recoome, where he can search for players on his scouter, while also having high damage output. The level 3 evolution sees Jeice and Burter teaming up to use combination attacks that provide AoE coverage.

To emphasize the Ginyu Force’s teamwork, players don’t permanently evolve into the next stage, but rather swap out to the next level, with the previous character they evolved from patrolling the area as an AI companion. If they find a survivor, they’ll immediately report to the player where they are, while also keeping them pinned down for the Raider player to finish off. Captain Ginyu’s own special skill is his iconic Body Change technique, where he can swap bodies with a Survivor to sabotage their skillset.

Players will also get a set of Survivor skins based on some of the relatively less powerful characters in the series. This includes the Namekian Dende, Goku’s afterlife mentor King Kai, and Fortuneteller Baba. The third season will also add three new transphere characters, which includers Super Saiyan Bardock and Goten, along with Super Saiyan 2 Teen Gohan. Players can try out all of this new content in a Public Test Server in the game before its official inclusion later this June.

Dragon Ball: The Breakers is available for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
