Dragon Ball Super Hero Hedo Magenta

When Goku was still a boy, he crushed an international terrorist organization called the Red Ribbon Army. At the time, one of the brains of the organization, a mad scientist named Dr. Gero, survived and focused his research on creating powerful androids. Years later, he successfully created a set of powerful androids to destroy the Earth. After long and difficult battles, Goku and the rest of the Z fighters manage to defeat these dangerous androids.

Everything should’ve ended right there and then, but unbeknownst to them, there’s a man who is ready to bring the Red Ribbon Army back from the dead and fulfill its evil destiny. His name is Magenta Ribbon.

Magenta Ribbon is the son of the former leader of the Red Ribbon Army, a grumpy middle-aged man called Commander Red. For the longest time, Magenta thought that Goku was the one who killed his beloved father. He didn’t know that Red was killed by his own man.

Compelled by a thirst for revenge, Magenta works hard until he finally becomes the president of a company called Red Pharmaceuticals. However, this company is actually nothing more than a front for the newly resurrected Red Ribbon Army. Dr. Hedo is the grandson of the infamous Dr. Gero. But unlike his grandfather, Dr. Hedo doesn’t have any malicious intention behind his creation. He simply loves to invent quirky stuff that people have never seen before, such as a recon drone in the form of a tiny bee or a pair of super androids.

Unlike Dr. Gero, however, Dr. Hedo is not interested in world domination. In fact, he only agrees to Magenta’s proposal because he likes the idea of having an unlimited budget to create his ultimate android. So at the beginning of the movie, the ambitious Magenta and the genius Dr. Hedo agree to work together. The result of that labor of passion and ambition is the Gamma Androids.

The Most Advanced Android Ever Made

Dragon Ball Super Hero Hedo and Gamma Androids

As intended by the genius Dr. Hedo, the Gamma Androids are the most advanced android ever made. They are undoubtedly the ultimate android. But while their combat abilities are certainly mindblowing, more on that in the next section, the appearance and personalities of the Gamma Androids are also quite fascinating.

Inspired by Super Heroes

Dragon Ball Super Hero Human Heroes

While Dr. Hedo doesn’t particularly agree with his grandfather’s evil way, he doesn’t despise him either. In fact, he shares the same passion as his grandfather, which is the unquenching desire to create the ultimate android. While Dr. Gero focuses more on the power and functionality of his androids, however, Dr. Hedo goes one step further by giving extra care to his android’s appearance.

Dr. Hedo based the design of his androids on the real-life hero that he has always been a fan of. It’s unclear whether or not this hero has superpowers or merely a guy in a costume. One thing’s for sure, Hedo loves him very much to the point that he basically gave the Gamma androids the same dashing uniform, the cape, and the stern yet quite friendly face of his favorite hero.

A Pair of Misguided Androids

Character Names

Gamma 1 and Gamma 2

First Appearance

The superhero concept actually goes beyond just the appearance. Hedo goes out of his way to program a superhero mindset into his androids. This means both Gamma 1 and Gamma 2 are programmed to be the champions of justice.

So how can a being that is designed to be a champion of justice end up working for an evil organization? Well, the answer is that they think they are the good guy and Goku is the bad guy. As superheroes, it is their duty to apprehend Goku and other outlaws around him. The slow realization of these poor misguided super androids about the errors in their way is actually one of the funniest parts of the story.

What the Gamma Androids Can Do

Dragon Ball Super Hero Gamma 1 Gamma 2

The Gamma Androids are by far the strongest android ever made. They are experts in close-range combat and they are also equipped with a weapon to help them during a fight.

Absurd Level of Strength, Speed, and Durability

Since their first encounter with Piccolo and the other Z fighters, both Gamma androids showcase an absurd level of raw physical power. Not only can they exert as much, or even more, strength as veteran fighters like Piccolo. Thanks to their advanced combat adaptability, they are also extremely adept at close-range combat. The absurd strength comes with equally impressive speed and flight ability as well. They can move as fast as Gohan and fly to the stratosphere with ease.

The Gamma androids are built like tanks. Their body can take a beating without any sign of meaningful damage. Even the Z fighters’ full barrage of kicks and punches only amounts to scuff and torn uniforms. But what makes them even more dangerous is the fact that the longer they fight, the more they learn about the enemy, the more likely it is for them to defeat said enemies.

The Gamma Blaster

Unlike humans and most living beings in the universe, the Gamma androids don’t have a ki circulating within their bodies. This means they can’t unleash any form of ki blast like Kamehameha. What they have, however, is a weapon called the Gamma Blaster.

Both Gamma androids are equipped with a Gamma blaster. This gun can shoot energy blasts as powerful as a ki blast. They can also charge the blaster to produce more energy output. The longer they charge the energy, the more destructive the blaster will be.

Out of every android that has appeared in Dragon Ball before, Gamma 1 and Gamma 2 are undoubtedly the most advanced ones yet. It can go toe to toe with the best fighters on earth and unleash hellfire when needed. But what makes them so much more fascinating than their predecessors is their quirky personality. That’s why they are arguably the best part of the movie.
