How Black Frieza Achieved This Transformation

Dragon Ball - Hyperbolic Time Chamber

Dragon Ball Super as a series and Manga was struggling to find its own two feet, as it needed to retread old ground for the majority of its early chapters. However, with the Moro arc, and now the Granolah arc in tow; Dragon Ball Super has allowed its villains to grow stronger in interesting ways. That cannot be more true for Frieza, the tyrannical emperor of the Frieza Force, and one of Dragon Ball's most iconic villains for his evil and charisma. Even so, Frieza doesn't fail to provide a lot of fear with his new transformation, which he used to obliterate a villain that Goku and Vegeta were having trouble with. The Black Frieza form as he so dubbed himself is powerful, but as to how it was obtained is a not so commonly discussed detail that should be noticed and acknowledged to properly explain the power which Frieza now holds.

At first, it may seem unbelievable to assume that Frieza had enough time to train or even achieved Black Frieza in with such strength. Of course, Frieza remarks this same sort of information to the confused Goku and Vegeta. He admits it to himself, that achieving the transformation took a lot of toil and frustration to get through in order to master. However, this could only be possible due to 10 years of training, which many would be forgiven for being confused by as it hasn't even been 10 years since Frieza participated in the Tournament of Power since mastering his Golden Frieza transformation. Still, these are 10 years of training that Frieza managed to achieved only due to finding a Hyperbolic Time Chamber in another planet and training inside it for 10 days outside the chamber, and 10 years inside of it.

It's not a surprise that achieving Black Frieza is no doubt a strenuous achievement that requires time for Frieza to achieve, and with the explanation of a Hyperbolic Time Chamber, it makes sense and allows the author to play around with Frieza's strength and to set him up as a great threat in the near future. After all, Goku and Vegeta both need to become much stronger thanks to Frieza achieving this strength. It can be said that from Frieza's own words that achieving this form in 10 years inside the chamber is not only a feat that is concerning, but somehow a feat that should be impossible. Not even Goku and Frieza have gone more than 3 years inside the chamber when preparing for the Universe 7 and Universe 6 tournament.

How Strong Is Black Frieza?

Dragon Ball - Black Frieza Defeats Goku and Vegeta

Now, for the real question many fans are excited to learn about, is how strong Black Frieza is when compared to the other transformations and opponents that we have seen so far. First, Black Frieza was able to defeat and one-shot Gas, an opponent who up until this point was thought to be the strongest opponent that Goku and Vegeta ever faced in the universe, and Frieza simply disposed of him with no effort and no stamina waste. Which is an important detail to consider, as Golden Frieza at first had a stamina issue when Goku first fought against Frieza like that. However, Black Frieza seems to have completely trained that stamina waste away and overcome that weakness; leading us to believe that he has become stronger than even Goku in True Ultra Instinct, and Vegeta in Ultra Ego.

This manages to make Black Frieza a huge enemy and play a huge role in the following arcs to come, as we are expecting Frieza to come back in the near future with Goku and Vegeta stronger as they prepare themselves to keep up with Black Frieza's strength and monstrous abilities. With that, it seems that Dragon Ball Super has perfectly set up future arcs with the arrival of a stronger Frieza, and the promise that we will get another fight against him in the future.
