Bandai Namco has announced that the upcoming 3D arena fighting game Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero will have a playable demo at the fighting game tournament EVO 2024. Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is one of the Dragon Ball fandom's most anticipated releases, as it marks a return to the classic Budokai Tenkaichi series after nearly two decades. The roster of Sparking Zero consists of both familiar fan favorites like Son Goku and Piccolo to more obscure picks from all corners of the Dragon Ball franchise, like Yajirobe and Anilaza. The game was demoed previously at Summer Game Fest 2024 Play Days, and fans will have another chance to play at the upcoming EVO 2024 event.

The Evolution Championship Series (EVO) is an annual fighting game tournament featuring lauded players of popular games like Street Fighter, Tekken, and more. EVO 2024's fighting game lineup includes Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising and Street Fighter 6, and will mark the competitive debuts of Tekken 8 and Mortal Kombat 1. While Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero won't be on the main stage of EVO, the game will have a playable demo that visitors can enjoy.

Bandai Namco has confirmed its presence at EVO 2024 this year, stating that it will be co-sponsoring the Tekken 8 tournament stream taking place. The company notes that Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero will be available to play by attendees, noting that those enjoying the demo will be some of the first players to try out the highly anticipated title. This demo of Sparking Zero will be the first publicly available demo for consumers, as previews of Sparking Zero at Summer Game Fest were a mix of both gameplay and demonstrations of the Episode and Custom battles features by the devs. EVO will take place on July 19-21 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, meaning attendees will have three days to try out the demo.

It's not clear if the demo available at EVO 2024 will be the same one from Summer Game Fest or if it will have an expanded roster compared to what was shown prior. The game's roster is already quite substantial, with the most recent character trailer revealing 12 more fighters for Sparking Zero. These include the likes of Goku Black, Mr. Satan, and Ultra Instinct -Sign- Goku, among many others.

EVO isn't the only place that the game is set to make an appearance, as Bandai Namco confirmed that Sparking Zero will be featured at Anime Expo with a playable demo, alongside several other games that are a part of its Summer Showcase. Fans who are unable to attend these events are hoping that this demo will become available to play digitally before the game's release in October.
