A Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero leaker claims that the game's roster will contain characters from the upcoming Dragon Ball Daima anime. Fans are fervently anticipating the next iteration of the classic Budokai Tenkaichi series from Spike Chunsoft and Bandai Namco, with this fourth mainline entry using its original Japanese subtitle for the first time worldwide. Earlier this December, Bandai Namco revealed a new trailer for Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero at The Game Awards 2023, which was well-received by fans.

The Sparking Zero trailer featured fast aerial combat like past Dragon Ball Z 3D arena fighting games, along with a slick anime art style that takes after Dragon Ball FighterZ. Not only that, the trailer also confirmed 16 different possible fighters right off the bat, including characters from both the Z and Super eras. This has bolstered the possibilities for Sparking Zero's rumored roster size, which will supposedly feature one of the largest Dragon Ball fighting game rosters. This has been backed up by another leaker, who claims the game will feature characters from Daima.

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Was Inspired by FighterZ ESports Scene

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero's producer states the new entry in the classic 3D arena fighting game was inspired by FighterZ and its esports scene.

Twitter user DbsHype, a leaker who covers all sorts of Dragon Ball related content, says the roster size is huge and will be one of the biggest fans will ever see. In particular, Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero will contain fighters from the original Dragon Ball to the upcoming Dragon Ball Daima show that was revealed in October. Daima features younger versions of the main characters and a brand-new set of villains, specifically a wizard associated with Babidi from Z's Majin Buu Saga. Characters from the Dragon Ball GT sequel series will also be featured on the roster.

According to Hype, this was based on his source who confirmed the roster from a month ago. If what Hype says is true, then Sparking Zero's roster could surpass the record for most playable characters in a Dragon Ball game, previously set by Budokai Tenkaichi 3. Similar to Sparking Zero, Budokai Tenkaichi 3 had pulled characters from all corners of the Dragon Ball mythos to include on its roster, including Arale from Dr. Slump, movie-exclusive villains like Dr. Wheelo, and even the original Dragon Ball such as a young version of Chi-Chi.

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero has already shown off some of its expansive roster choices, such as including both the Z and Super era iterations of Future Trunks, along with unexpected picks like Bergamo from Super's Tournament of Power arc. Including characters from Daima would likely please fans and be a great tie-in to the show as well. This is still a rumor, however, so fans should take Hype's claim with a grain of salt until Bandai Namco and Spike Chunsoft provide more information regarding Sparking Zero.
