Dragon Ball is a series that pretty much everyone is familiar with. Akira Toriyama has crafted one of the most enduring creations in pop culture, with many people considering Dragon Ball Z to be one of the most popular anime of all time. Suffice to say, the fact that the series featured amazing powerups, great characters, and memorable villains is a huge reason why Dragon Ball is such a popular name.

Toriyama does a great job of penning the many personalities that are in the show, especially when it comes to the many great Dragon Ball villains. Some of the antagonists in the series are so despicably bad that it's surprising just how many fans still love these characters despite the countless atrocities they've committed. The following characters in Dragon Ball serve as the best examples of people who are completely irredeemable, no matter how hard they try to make up for their past transgressions.

10 Raditz

The first ever Saiyan apart from Goku to make an appearance on the show is Raditz. Despite being Goku's brother, he shares none of his sibling's kindness and even kidnaps his son, Gohan.

Goku pretty much has to sacrifice himself to take out Raditz once and for all. There's not a lot shown of this villain, but his complete and utter disregard for human life and his own flesh and blood shows just how villainous he really is.

9 Nappa

Nappa from Dragon Ball Z Cropped

Nappa is another Saiyan who was quickly disposed of by Vegeta after outliving his usefulness. He was a powerful Saiyan who could decimate the strongest foes around but was no match for Goku after his training with King Kai.

If he would've stuck around for longer, fans could've probably seen him ascend to new heights of power. As things stand, he's nothing more than an evil figment of the past who had no problems killing people indiscriminately and beating up kids like Gohan without so much as a second thought!

8 Vegeta

Dragon Ball - Saiyan Arc Armor Vegeta

This is easily the most contentious entry on this list. After all, Vegeta has fought to save Earth and the entire universe time and time again, so many people feel that his past sins have been forgiven multiple times over.

However, it's worth keeping in mind that Vegeta does not care about collateral damage in the slightest and killed countless people when he was a villain. He might be protecting Earth these days, but there was a time when he couldn't care less about the lives of measly Earthlings and killed them off without giving it a second thought.

7 Frieza

The tyrant who ruled over the universe with an iron fist is undisputedly one of the evilest characters in Dragon Ball. He destroyed the entire Saiyan race without a care in the world and did the same to multiple planets and races.

Frieza had no problem killing innocents either to achieve his goals or, sometimes, just for the kicks. He's a truly evil being, and even his unsteady alliance with the Saiyans has done nothing to redeem him in anyone's eyes, least of all the series' fans.

6 Cooler

Cooler is Frieza's brother and only appears in the Dragon Ball Z movies and some of the non-canon spin-off series and games. However, that should take nothing away from the sheer ruthlessness exhibited by this character.

His quest to kill Goku off leads to him murdering plenty of innocent beings without a care in the world. It's this disregard for the living that sends Goku into a rage and prompts him to become a Super Saiyan.

5 Dr. Gero

Dr. Gero in Dragon Ball Z

It takes a special kind of evil to create mechanical beings that want to destroy the whole world, but that's precisely what Dr. Gero did. His quest to make the ultimate fighting machine resulted in something truly sinister that almost doomed the entire world.

Poetically enough, he meets his end at the hands of one of his own creations, who were so powerful that even he couldn't control them. His burning desire to defeat Goku after the Saiyan disbanded his precious Red Ribbon Army would forever remain incomplete.

4 Cell

Cell smiling evilly

Cell is one of the most iconic villains in Dragon Ball history. Capable of using abilities from all of the strongest fighters on Earth, Cell is a superpowered being who will stop at nothing to destroy the world and kill its strongest fighters.

The brutality of his fighting style shows just how evil Cell really is, with his Perfect form being incredibly powerful indeed. It's easy to see why everyone cheered after he met his end at the hands of Super Saiyan 2 Gohan.

3 Babidi

After Earth entered a period of peace, Babidi decided to bring conflict back to the planet once again. This evil wizard used his magical powers to brainwash people and enhance their powers significantly.

His promises even lured Vegeta over to the dark side, causing the disgruntled Saiyan to go mad in a bid to battle Goku and establish his superiority once and for all. Of course, as is the case with most evil megalomaniacs, he bit off more than he could chew and got blasted to smithereens by Majin Buu, who was apparently supposed to be under his control.

2 Kid Buu

Kid Buu in Dragon Ball Z

While Majin Buu wasn't inherently evil, his dark side managed to appear and take out this gentler half. This led to the birth of Super Buu, but there was another transformation that this villain would go through.

After both Goku and Vegeta wreak havoc in Super Buu's body, the villain undergoes another change to become Kid Buu. The fact that Kid Buu's first act as a villain was to destroy all of Earth shows just how irredeemably bad this character really was.

1 Zamasu

Zamasu in Dragon Ball

Out of all the villains in Dragon Ball Super, Zamasu is unquestionably the evilest of the bunch. His hatred for mortals grew to such a dangerous extent that he tried to end the life of every regular person with his draconic plan called Project Zero Mortals.

Thankfully, the Super Saiyan trio of Goku, Vegeta, and Future Trunks managed to end his reign of terror once and for all, with an assist from Future Zeno. Finally, his present form was also destroyed by Beerus before his plan could ever be put into action.
