Highlights

  • Fusion in Dragon Ball creates an entity far more powerful than individual warriors like Goku and Vegeta.
  • With new transformations like Ultra Instinct and Ultra Ego, a fusion of Goku and Vegeta could surpass even Beerus.
  • By balancing Ultra Instinct's defense and Ultra Ego's offense, an ultimate fusion could rival the power of the Gods.

Fusion is one of the best aspects in all of Dragon Ball. The idea is very unique and exclusive to this series, where it takes two powerful warriors and fuses them into the body of a singular entity who is far more powerful than either of its constituents. Whenever Gogeta or Vegito have been formed in the series, they are incredibly powerful and often prove to be far more than what their enemy can deal with.

As the series has progressed, Goku and Vegeta have only gotten more powerful. Recently, Goku has started to master his Ultra Instinct, and Vegeta, despite only just unlocking Ultra Ego, is already on a fairly equal level to his rival. So, if a new villain comes up that is somehow even stronger than the heroes in their most powerful forms, Goku and Vegeta could fuse, creating someone perhaps even stronger than Beerus.

One of the series' most iconic facets has now overtaken its identity. But is there a path that lies beyond new Super Saiyan forms or divine states?

Why Would Goku And Vegeta Need To Fuse Again?

Vegito and Gogeta (Super Saiyan Blue)

In the world of Dragon Ball, Gogeta and Vegito are, even without their God forms, some of the strongest beings in the entire multiverse. Dragon Ball Super answered the hopes and wishes of many fans when they showed each of them in their Super Saiyan Blue form, in which they were able to fight against some of the most dangerous enemies in the franchise.

Moreover, in the current setting of the series, Goku and Vegeta are far stronger now than they were when they last fused. This is because both of them have unlocked transformations that house Divine Techniques that belong to immortal beings who have shaped the multiverse, with Goku using the Angel's Ultra Instinct and Vegeta utilizing the Destroyer God's Energy of Destruction with his Ultra Ego form. This opens the door for the most overpowered mortal character in the series.

To speculate, if a new villain were to show up who would be far stronger than either Goku or Vegeta in their ultimate forms, it could prompt the need for them to fuse. This also isn't an impossible thing to imagine, since Black Frieza exists in a separate realm of power since he was able to knock out the heroes with just one punch, despite them being their strongest forms.

If this were to happen and there was no way for them to beat the villain by themselves, they could fuse through either the Potara Earrings to form Vegito or the Metamoran Dance to form Gogeta. Either way, they would form a hero so powerful that virtually anything under the rank of God of Destruction would mean nothing to him.

The Strength Of The Ultimate Fusion

The discussion about Goku and Vegeta's fusion in their ultimate forms has been ongoing for quite some time now, with fans dubbing these possible fusions 'Ultra Gogeta' or 'Ultra Vegito'. This is because the resulting fusion would have both the technique of the Angels with Ultra Instinct and the power of the Gods of Destruction with Ultra Ego, making him someone who is arguably on the same level as Beerus himself.

Both of these Divine Techniques serve as a reflection of the other since Ultra Instinct provides the user with the best defense and Ultra Ego gives the best offense. Because of this, the fusion would be the perfect fighter. Since Gogeta and Vegito are already called 'The Ultimate Warrior', their battle instincts and brilliant strategic minds would know how to balance each Divine Technique masterfully, and their access to both would let them use them interchangeably.

I am neither Goku nor Vegeta. I'm the one who will defeat you!

Ultra Instinct would be used to dodge all the necessary attacks and to harden the body to make it incredibly durable, which would also work with Ultra Ego. By tanking a hit occasionally with their Ultra Ego and durable body, Gogeta/Vegito would make sure that they get even stronger for their next hit, but not in a way that their body completely gives in, like what happened to Vegeta in the Granolah arc.

The balance between the two would also work with the fusions' arsenal. Since there are some attacks exclusive to Goku's Ultra Instinct and some to Vegeta's Ultra Ego, the fusion could make use of this by combining these attacks. For example, Goku's Spirit Avatar that he gets from his technique could be mixed with Vegeta's Energy of Destruction to make an extremely powerful avatar that can destroy everything that he touches.

The possibilities when it comes to what this ultimate fusion could do are endless, so much so that a character of this strength could contend with Beerus himself. Since Beerus is widely regarded as the most powerful God of Destruction due to his Destroyer Powers, along with his ability to use Ultra Instinct Omen, Ultra Gogeta/Vegito could definitely give him a run for his money due to his mastery of both Divine Techniques.

Before any creation must come destruction!

How to form the Ultimate Warrior

The only question left is how this fusion can be achieved. As seen in the Goku Black arc, the sheer amount of energy that Super Saiyan Blue Vegito had proved to be far too much for the earrings, which made Goku and Vegeta defuse before their 1-hour timer ran out. However, this wasn't a problem for Gogeta in his fight against Broly, making it seem as if the fusion dance is the only way for this fusion to happen.
