It has been almost three months since Dragon Ball FighterZ introduced a new fighter and after months of waiting, Dragon Ball Super's Ultra Instinct Goku is finally joining the fighting game later this week. To celebrate, Bandai Namco has released a launch trailer showcasing Goku's Ultra Instinct form in all its glory and it is a spectacle to behold.

The trailer recreates Goku's iconic transformation into Ultra Instinct while battling Kefla in Dragon Ball Super, all capped off with a recreation of his incredible battle with Jiren during the anime's final episodes. The trailer also features Dragon Ball Super's beloved "Ultimate Battle" track, referencing the anime further. The track itself is part of Dragon Ball FighterZ's Anime Music Pack volume 2 DLC.

Dragon Ball FighterZ wrapped up its 2019-2020 World Tour earlier this year, with Japanese player GO1 taking home the prize. It was there that Arc System Works first revealed the FighterZ Pass 3, along with showcasing Ultra Instinct Goku for the first time and revealing Kefla as a playable fighter. The game also introduced a major update earlier this year which changed many elements such as the menus and UI, while also refining most of the gameplay and tweaking many characters.

Ultra Instinct Goku joins Kefla so far as the only announced characters for Dragon Ball FighterZ FighterZ Pass 3, which will include five new characters, unlike like last year's Fighters Pass 2 which introduced six characters, Videl, Jiren, Goku (GT), Janemba, SSGSS Gogeta and Broly (DBS). It is unknown when Bandai Namco and Arc System Works intend to announce the characters, but with EVO 2020 still planned to go ahead in an all-digital format, it is likely we will see at least one new character announced there.

Ultra Instinct Goku is the fifth playable version of the anime's protagonist to arrive in Dragon Ball FighterZ, joining base form Goku, Super Saiyan Goku, Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Dragon Ball GT's Kid Goku. This isn't even mentioning fused versions of Goku and Vegita such as Vegito and Gogeta. Many have complained about the abundance of Goku representations in the game, however given that there are three characters left to be added in season 3 and the only on-screen version of Goku yet to be added is Dragon Ball Z: Battle of God's Super Saiyan God Goku, fans are hopeful that this is the last iteration on the protagonist FighterZ will receive.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is out now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
