Dragon Ball FighterZ finds itself in a unique position. It obviously appeals to Dragon Ball fans, but it also filled a niche left behind by Marvel Vs Capcom. They’re both flashy, 3-on-3 fighters with a lot of style, but with enough depth under their simple controls to appeal to hardcore fighting game enthusiasts and newcomers alike.

It also has some of the most impressive-looking super combos around, with literally plenty of bang for its buck. But some are better than others at laying on the damage on opponents. While they’re trying to charge up SSJ5 Gogeta’s Ultimate Kamehameha, players can zonk them with the game's best super combos.

7 Android 18: Accel Dance

Best DBFighterZ Supers- Android 18 Accel Dance

Characters can earn up to 7 bars of super meter in Dragon Ball FighterZ, which is quite generous. Though when players factor in costs like Vanish Moves, Guard Cancels, etc., they’ll still have to use those bars wisely. Each character has a few supers that cost one or two bars, alongside a Meteor Move, which eats up thre bars. They do the most damage on hit, and the most pain to the player if they miss.

Luckily, Android 18 has one of the best Meteor Moves with her Accel Dance. It can be performed both on the ground and in midair to mix up an opponent's defense. The move can also catch them when they're getting up, putting them in even more trouble. It even comes with an Easter Egg where Krillin replaces Android 17 if he's on 18's team, which adds a little visual flair.

6 Piccolo: Hellzone Grenade

Best DBFighterZ Supers- Piccolo Hellzone Grenade

Gohan’s green dad is a solid character to get to grips with. While he isn’t exactly high on the tier list, he has plenty of tools to keep foes second-guessing themselves. The most notable is his Hellzone Grenade super, where he peppers the air with ki blasts that home in on the opponent. He isn’t the only character with a super like this, as both Kefla and Zamasu have similar moves.

Piccolo is better-suited for taking advantage of its pressure game. On hit, Piccolo can keep attacking and build up a combo. On block, Piccolo can open their defense by mixing them up: attacking low if they're blocking high, or using overheard attack if they're blocking low. Even tagged-in opponents will be left playing this guessing game if Piccolo sets it up for them on entry.

5 Yamcha: Spirit Ball

Best DBFighterZ Supers- Yamcha Spirit Ball

For Dragon Ball’s perennial buttmonkey (after Krillin anyway), Yamcha holds up pretty well in FighterZ. He’s got some solid moves, some very good assists, and one of the best Level 1 super moves in the game. His Spirit Ball can be directed by the player to zip back and forth across the screen to catch any errant openings.

If it hits, it can knock the opponent off their feet and juggle them in midair, or cancel into a super move from one of Yamcha’s partners. If it’s blocked, it can push the opponent away to give Yamcha some breathing room. By the time it’s over, the opponent will be too far away to punish him, leaving Yamcha free to flee or close the distance with another attack.

4 Gotenks: Super Ghost Kamikaze Attack

Best DBFighterZ Supers- Gotenks Super Ghost Kamikaze Attack

The Level 1 supers aren’t always the most impressive to watch in action. However, they shouldn’t be underestimated either, especially Gotenks’ Super Ghost Kamikaze Attack, as it’s considered the best Level 1 in the whole game. He simply produces four ghosts of himself that can barrel into the opponent on command. Like Piccolo’s Hellzone Grenade, it’s good for mixing up opponents both in action and on tag entry.

The difference is that, since the player can control them, it gives them four chances to crack the opponent’s defense instead of one. Then, if it hits directly, it can cancel into a partner’s super move as well. So, no matter what the opponent does, it’s going to make them take risks that the player can capitalize on.

3 Master Roshi: Turtle Hermit Extraordinaire

Best DBFighterZ Supers- Master Roshi Turtle Hermit Extraordinaire

As fun as Master Roshi's Evil Containment Wave is, his Turtle Hermit Extraordinaire is arguably his best. Aside from its strength, which can catch grounded and midair foes for the hurt, players can spend another level of meter to pin them down with a Kamehameha.

It’s worth doing, as it can cancel into his partner’s super for extra damage. Quick ones like Krillin's Destructo Disc can help keep the hurt on with a combo. However, the Kamehameha part lasts long enough to fully charge other supers like Piccolo's Special Beam Cannon. So, those with less nimble fingers can still blast their foes away.

2 Base Goku: Kaiōken

Best DBFighterZ Supers- Base Goku Kaioken

Base Goku used to be one of the strongest characters in the game. However, he’s been nerfed a touch or two after the past few updates. Even so, he still has some powerful normal moves, and some handy assists for charging ki. That, and he has some very sturdy supers. In fact, his Kaiōken is his only regular super, but it has a lot of uses.

It makes Goku race after his opponent and smash them any which way he can. Are they in midair? Standing at a distance? Blocking? Doesn’t matter. The Kaiōken will catch them, chase after them, or confuse their blocking by attacking them from behind. It can also link into a Kamehameha finisher, which gets stronger when Goku loses his partners. This super might be enough to turn the tide when things look tough.

1 Ultra Instinct Goku: Accelerating Battle Spirit

Best DBFighterZ Supers- UI Goku Accelerating Battle Spirit Unpolished Instinct

Shocker: the most broken character in the game has the best super moves. Fans have debated whether UI Goku is fair or overpowered ever since he joined the roster. His Guiding Impulse super alone is enough to capture any errant attack and counter it with a hefty amount of damage. Still, it requires the opponent to attack first in order to work. Players who favor offense will be more interested in his Accelerating Battle Spirit.

It’ll catch the opponent anywhere on screen: ground, midair, on entry, etc. Then, for a little more meter, it can link into Unpolished Instinct, an extra attack that adds insult to injury, and cancel into UI Goku’s partners’ supers to keep the pain going. It’s just what players need if they want to figuratively snap the game in half, or make their opponents do it literally.
