Dragon Ball FighterZ wrapped up its third season earlier this year, with Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta being added as the final character to the roster. While it hasn't been officially stated that no more characters will be coming to the very popular fighting game, it's generally assumed by most of the player base that Season 3 is the last season for Dragon Ball FighterZ.

With nineteen characters added to the game over three seasons, Dragon Ball FighterZ's roster has grown significantly from its initial line-up. Although their general strength has varied from underwhelming to extremely dominant, DLC characters have made their mark throughout the game's history.

10 Jiren

DBFZ DLC Jiren charging up for Blazing Magnetron

On his initial release in Season 2, Jiren was considered one of the weakest characters in the game. However, in the time since then, he has received enough buffs and changes that he can now be considered very strong when compared to the game's roster.

Jiren's strengths and gameplan mostly lie in his counter specials. While they were fairly ineffective on release, in time they have been buffed to be more effective. While Jiren still has a few offensive weaknesses, he is much better in his ability to enact his own gameplan.

9 Kefla

DBFZ DLC Kefla about to end her Gigantic Burst super

As the first DLC character from Season 3, Kefla made a strong impression right from the outset. With long-ranged, multi-hitting normals and a variety of unique special skills, Kefla quickly established herself as a powerful rushdown character with lots of versatility.

Kefla can pressure her opponent with the low-hitting "Ain't nobody that can stop me!" and her oppressive ki blasts. Gigantic Ray can be used to set up easy knockdown pressure while "Time to test this power out!" can be used to escape the opponent's pressure. While Kefla has never been top tier, she has always trended towards the upper half of most tier lists.

8 Goku (Base)

DBFZ DLC Base Goku performing his 2SSS string

After a lukewarm reception on release, Base Goku has come to be considered one of the stronger characters in Dragon Ball FighterZ, despite his limitations. This mostly comes down to the unique tools that he has compared to the toolkits of the other versions.

Base Goku is the paragon of an ideal anchor character in Dragon Ball FighterZ. His Kaioken becomes stronger and more versatile when more of his teammates are down, and the absurdly powerful Super Spirit Bomb is a powerful level 3 super that is perfect for finishing off DHC combos. However, he requires a lot of setup to be used to his maximum potential.

7 Bardock

DBFZ DLC Bardock about to use his Revenge Assault

Bardock has always been a mainstay on many top player teams, even though he has never been as considerably dominant as other characters have been. This is due to his powerful foundation and simple, straightforward toolkit.

Bardock's greatest strength is in his fast and powerful normals. His strong range and his ground bouncing autocombo allow him to easily convert a stray hit in neutral into a powerful combo. While none of his tools are unique or especially powerful, they are incredibly effective at playing Dragon Ball FighterZ.

6 Goku (GT)

DBFZ GT Goku about to fire off his Dragon Fist Explosion

When GT Goku was released in Season 2, he very quickly became omnipresent on many high-level players' teams. His insane mobility and ability to convert meters into damage made him one of the most dangerous characters in the game.

While GT Goku has been nerfed and rebalanced since his release, he is still a very strong character. His mixups and anti-reflect tech have been weakened, but he is still very deadly when he's got meter on the board. He remains a fairly flexible character that can work in any position on the team.

5 Vegeta (Base)

DBFZ DLC Base Vegeta about to use I have no use for Saiyans that can't move

Despite canonically being the weakest version of the character, Base Vegeta is generally considered the strongest version of Vegeta in Dragon Ball Fighterz. He is a high damage character that can oppress with close-range pressure or play keep-away with his versatile ki blasts.

Super Dash Kick is one Base Vegeta's best moves for skipping neutral, and Deadly Knee Drop lets him create a variety of mixups. "I have no use for Saiyans who can't move" allows Base Vegeta to either continue a combo after a sliding knockdown or easily convert into his level 3 super.

4 Vegito (SSGSS)

DBFZ DLC Vegito SSB about to fire off Spirit Excalibur

Vegito Blue is one of the strongest characters in the entirety of Dragon Ball, and his FighterZ counterpart is no different. His toolkit is extremely diverse, and it allows him to pull off a variety of moves and tricks that his opponents can't.

Vegito's extremely long-range moves allow him to stay in his opponent's face, even when reflected, allowing him to keep pressuring the opponent. His powerful assists help other characters create potent mixups, and he can dump his meter into extremely damaging combos. Vegito Blue may not be as dominant as some of the other characters on this list, but there's no denying his effectiveness.

3 Goku (UI)

DBFZ DLC UI Goku about to use Accelerating Battle Spirit

Goku was at his strongest at the end of the Tournament of Power, and this incarnation of Goku finally arrived in Dragon Ball FighterZ in Season 3. He immediately dominated the competitive scene, with his collection of invincible moves that discouraged his opponents from attacking recklessly.

While UI Goku has been normalized since his release, he still maintains many of his invincible attacks, meaning that his defense remains strong even after his many nerfs. Although his era of dominance is gone, UI Goku is still a terror in the game.

2 Gogeta (SS4)

DBFZ DLC Gogeta SS4 about to fire his Ultra Big Bang Kamehameha

The final character of Season 3 was Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta, and he came with a variety of unique gimmicks and powerful moves. His ability to easily generate Dragon Balls gives him a unique niche among the roster, allowing him to access Shenron's benefits more easily than others.

If that wasn't enough, Finish Sign allows Gogeta to boost the damage of his supers, making them considerably stronger when combined with Limit Break. It can get a while to get used to SS4 Gogeta's unique mechanics, but he becomes a powerful character once mastered.

1 Broly (DBZ)

DBFZ DLC Broly about to release Gigantic Meteor

Broly has had a checkered past as a playable character, especially during the early game. He was extremely vulnerable to fuzzies, making it easy for most characters to open Broly up, which made him a liability in high-level play.

The moment fuzzies were removed, Broly was reborn as one of the most powerful characters in the game. His massive range, powerful armored moves, and unusually oppressive zoning made him extremely well-rounded, and his damage is unmatched. Even now, he remains one of, if not the, most powerful characters in the game.
