The Dragon Ball series is one of the most legendary shonen manga of all time, with the majority of anime fans getting into this medium of entertainment mainly due to the phenomenon that was Dragon Ball Z. Given how popular this show really was, it's only a given that people would want to witness their favorite characters in a brand new story. Dragon Ball GT was not enough at the time, and speculation started running rampant about a possible Dragon Ball AF as well.
While these rumors never saw the light of day, the fan-made manga of Dragon Ball AF still made the rounds. The fact that the current creator of the Dragon Ball Super manga, Toyotaro, was one of the mangaka behind a popular Dragon Ball AF doujinshi is proof enough of just how popular this series had become. However, most of these fan-made mangas were left incomplete due to various reasons, with the following plot threads being left unresolved as a result.
10 How Did The West Supreme Kai Survive Her Bout Against Kid Buu?
Toyotaro's — or Toyble, as he was known at the time — version of Dragon Ball AF starts off with the introduction of two new villains, Xicor and the West Supreme Kai. The latter's presence feels rather odd, given the events of Dragon Ball Z.
After all, Kid Buu had gone on a rampage and killed most of the gods in heaven, including the West Supreme Kai. How did she come back and hatch this nefarious plot out of nowhere?
9 Did Xicor Break Out Of His Seal?
The illegitimate son of Goku makes an appearance in Dragon Ball AF, proving to be too much for the Z Warriors to handle. However, they manage to figure out a quick solution by sealing the antagonist in the Z Sword.
However, cracks start appearing in the sword, which indicates that Xicor would not be held in the sword for too long. However, before he could break out of his seal... the manga reached a premature conclusion after Toyotaro was selected to draw the Super Dragon Ball Heroes manga.
8 How Did Gohan Reach The Level Of A Super Saiyan 4 In Such A Short Span Of Time?
During the events of the manga, it's revealed that Gohan has managed to reach the level of a Super Saiyan 4. This comes as a welcome shock... albeit a rather illogical one.
After all, Gohan barely trained over the course of Dragon Ball GT. How did he manage to secure such boundless power in the blink of an eye?
7 How Did Both Saiyans Transform Without Needing The Blutz Waves?
Both Vegeta and Gohan reached Super Saiyan 4 in their fight against Xicor. This was rather odd, given the fact that a Saiyan's tail is important to secure this Super Saiyan 4 transformation.
In Dragon Ball GT, Bulma's Blutz Waves device allowed Vegeta to attain this transformation. However, the Dragon Ball AF manga doesn't show this development at all and lets both tailless Saiyans reach the level of a Super Saiyan 4 with ease.
6 Why Was Broly Specifically Chosen To Be Revived?
In a bid to bring Goku back to life, it was stated that the power of multiple Saiyans needed to be present for the same. However, the Z Warriors lacked one Saiyan, so they decided to revive Broly to fill this deficit.
This seems like a foolhardy decision since various other Saiyans with better hearts or weaker powers could've been revived for the same. Why was Broly the only candidate here?
5 Will Broly Become The Latest Member Of The Z Warriors?
After Broly is revived, he finds out about the peaceful lives that Saiyans are living on Earth. This causes his rage and jealousy to take over, as he wishes for a normal life of his own too.
Unfortunately, before this side of Broly's character is explored, Toyble's Dragon Ball AF reached its premature end. Readers can only wonder whether Broly's character arc would take on the shape of something along the lines of his re-emergence in Dragon Ball Super.
4 Is Goku Ever Going To Come Back To Earth?
Given how Dragon Ball GT showed Goku going away and leaving the Z Warriors to take care of the planet, it doesn't make sense to bring him back once again. However, Toyble's Dragon Ball AF has toyed around with the idea of bringing this legendary Saiyan back.
Once again, the manga ended before this plot thread could be explored. As a result, Broly's presence in the story will largely remain a mystery.
3 Who Is Ize's Mother?
Young Jijii is another artist who has released a longer-running version of Dragon Ball AF. This manga starts off with the introduction of Ize, who is revealed to be none other than Frieza's son!
This can be rather hard to fathom, especially given the lack of any hints pertaining to Frieza's lineage. However, the biggest question here is — who is Ize's mother? That fact has never seen the light of day!
2 What Is Spoitz' Origin?
The latest arc of Young Jijii's Dragon Ball AF deals with another intergalactic threat that is roaming around the universe in search of bigger and grander combat challenges. This person is Spoitz and is one of the most powerful warriors Goku and Vegeta have faced.
However, the origin of this villain is yet to be seen in the manga. Until later chapters shine a light on this development, people will never find out what Spoitz' motivations really are.
1 Will Goku Take Center-Stage In Young Jijii's Universe Once Again?
Unlike Toyble's version of Dragon Ball AF, Young Jijii wasted no time in bringing Goku back to the fold. However, other Saiyans weren't exactly relegated to the sidelines, with Gohan and Vegeta also receiving their time in the spotlight.
Until the manga progresses, people will have no idea as to whether Goku will become the main character once again. He already plays a pretty major role, so maybe that's a sign of the things to come.
