New threats that have materialized since Dragon Age: Inquisition have necessitated the formation of new factions across Thedas. The Veil Jumpers are a faction that was formed in response to the threats to the Veil, particularly in Arlathan Forest, located in the Tevinter Imperium. With the events of Dragon Age: Inquisition, the Breach, and Solas' efforts against the Veil in the years since Trespasser, the Arlathan Forest has experienced a number of magical oddities. The people who live there, particularly Dalish elves—but also others who have joined them—created the Veil Jumpers to help repair the damage to the Veil in the Arlathan Forest and attempt to mitigate the damage caused.

With the threat to the Veil worse than ever in Dragon Age: The Veilguard and the Veilguard's apparent pledge to defend the Veil from any threat to it, the Veil Jumpers will likely become invaluable allies in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. One of the Veilguard's members, Bellara, will be a Veil Jumper and could lend their expertise to the organization.

The Veil Jumpers in Dragon Age Lore

The Group's First Appearance

The Veil Jumpers were first introduced in Issue #3 of Dragon Age: The Missing. Varric and Scout Harding arrive in the Arlathan Forest to find it in chaos: magic affects time in some places, turns the landscape upside-down in others, and spirits trade places with the living. Varric and Harding encounter the Veil Jumpers Strife, Ireline, Binde, and Tist in the Arlathan Forest. Irelin describes the Veil Jumpers as an alliance between Dalish and any non-Dalish, elf or otherwise, who work to contain the threat of magic unraveling the Arlathan Forest.

The Veil Jumpers guide Varric and Harding through the Arlathan Forest, where they've mapped out the various anomalies along the way, along with strategies to counter them. With the help of the Veil Jumpers, Varric and Harding are able to navigate the Arlathan Forest intact. This depiction of the Veil Jumpers in Dragon Age: The Missing was just a teaser for the organization and it's possible that more of them may be seen in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

The Veil Jumpers in Dragon Age: The Veilguard

The magic that is affecting the Arlathan Forest is likely indicative of what will happen to the rest of Thedas if the Veil is destroyed. The group of Veil Jumpers in Dragon Age: The Missing are residents of the Arlathan Forest, or live close by and have a personal interest in the stability of the Forest. However, it's possible that the same magic will spread beyond the Forest. The knowledge and expertise that the Veil Jumpers have accumulated in the practicalities of a world without a Veil will become essential to any team seeking to defend Thedas.

Veil Jumpers in the Veilguard

Bellara is a Veil Jumper and a companion in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. BioWare has also confirmed that the player character, Rook, has the option to select the Veil Jumpers as a faction in character creation. This may give Rook some unique dialogue and story options regarding magic and the Veil, along with additional interactions with Bellara. In cases where the Veil Jumper background isn't chosen, Bellara's role as a Veil Jumper will become indispensable as an expert on the effects of the destruction of the Veil.
