Dragon Age: Origins lead writer David Gaider was criticized for an earlier statement he made regarding Morrigan when he wished for a remake of the classic game, however, he responded with a simple explanation. Turns out the clarification held some interesting background information about the making of Dragon Age: Origins.

The former Dragon Age writer expressed his wish for BioWare to create a remaster for Dragon Age: Origins. In a couple of tweets, he talked about seeing what the game could look like with "brand new PS5-era bells and whistles." He added, even Dragon Age: Inquisition-level graphics would be great, as he'd love to see Morrigan "not have the shoulders of a linebacker," and for the sex scenes to look better than "someone bashing marionettes together." Fans took offense to the statement regarding Morrigan, but the writer was quick to provide context the next day.

The reason for making such a statement was very simple. In Dragon Age: Origins, all female models used the male animation rig, as David Gaider explained. The modelers and animators at the time were very limited in what they could use and that's why they arrived at this solution. Therefore, the animation and the models looked understandably odd at times, especially when it came to Morrigan, whose model was designed to have a very slender frame, but her shoulders were widened specifically to make animation easier. David Gaider saw the model before the changes were made, and in the remake, he would like to see Morrigan with her original body design.

Plenty of fans expressed support after the tweet was released and were unhappy with how quickly the fandom turned against the writer who gave them great stories and memorable characters up to Dragon Age: Inquisition. Many also said how happy they are to hear such interesting background information about the creation of a game. There were also a handful of the original accusers, who flung various insults at Gaider for criticizing Morrigan's appearance, who came back to apologize under the latest tweet, realizing their error.

David Gaider has provided plenty of interesting tidbits lately when it comes to the production of previous Dragon Age games. He has always shown love and care for the characters of the game, and it's safe to say many fans would be just as excited as he would be about a Dragon Age: Origins remaster.

Dragon Age: Origins is available for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
