While it remains to be seen how their receptions ultimately go, many BioWare fans are hopeful about the future of the developer. It has two major games confirmed to be in development, Dragon Age: Dreadwolf and Mass Effect 4. It may have come at the cost of Anthem, but BioWare has also confirmed that Dragon Age: Dreadwolf would be entirely single-player.

There’s been a lot of right steps revealed so far, even if it is a long road. There is still reason for concern, but the hope for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf is there. BioWare even recently confirmed its official title as such, and while it confirmed it wouldn’t release this year, it did say it would show fans a little more sometime later this year. Truth be told, looking at BioWare’s past reveals for Mass Effect 4 and Dreadwolf outline a pretty reasonable location for it: The Game Awards 2022.

Dragon Age: Dreadwolf and The Game Awards

BioWare has had a very healthy relationship with The Game Awards, debuting several new games there. Dragon Age: Dreadwolf’s first teaser was revealed at The Game Awards 2018, while BioWare skipped 2019. Dragon Age: Dreadwolf was also seen at TGA 2020, where BioWare also officially announced Mass Effect 4. BioWare was not present at the Game Awards 2021.

It’s easy to see that BioWare has attended, with Dragon Age in tow, The Game Awards every other year. Since it was not there in 2021, it could very well be at this year’s Game Awards ceremony. Presumably, BioWare will have a full-blown trailer with release window information possible, as recent reports suggested that Dragon Age: Dreadwolf was at least 18 months away earlier this year. This potentially puts it into a late 2023 release window or perhaps sometime in 2024, but with the official reveal of the title, actually showcasing the game seems like the next step.

Expecting Dragon Age: Dreadwolf to be at The Game Awards 2022 is currently the most reasonable expectation. It’s worth noting that DA:D, to some capacity, has appeared at EA Play and Gamescom in the past. However, EA Play isn’t happening this year and its past appearance at Gamescom wasn’t much. It’s possible that BioWare is there for some reason, even for Dragon Age, but the safest bet right now is The Game Awards.

It may be a wait for fans. Yet, fans have already waited this long. The first full-blown Dragon Age: Dreadwolf trailer has a lot of expectations to live up to, and the added time between now and then can help BioWare fully communicate its vision for Solas and his plan to tear down the Veil.
