Events From Dragon Age: Tevinter Nights

Tevinter Nights cover.

Dragon Age: Tevinter Nights has the most content in terms of what is happening in Thedas after Dragon Age: Inquisition. Every chapter is a short story dealing with different characters in different places, and all reveal a little of what is happening in Thedas after the events of Trespasser.

A big event that ripples through Thedas is the qunari invasion. The first book chapter, "Three Trees to Midnight," shows that the Antaam invaded Tevinter. They have captured many citizens and have put them in work camps. They are using drugs on all captured mages to shackle their minds or to outright lobotomize them. There are disagreements between different branches of the Qun, as the Ben-Hassrath and Antaam are not seeing eye to eye about the invasion. The invasion is also not limited to Tevinter, but also goes to Rivain and the edges of Antiva.

Skyhold and its valley is mostly abandoned. Solas' mural room came apart and turned into a demon of Regret that was defeated by agents of the Inquisition. This encounter made Divine Victoria order that Skyhold is dangerous and off limits. It is now unused, must to the relief of Thedas' powers that feared the Inquisition's might. The lyrium idol is also no longer in Kirkwall and has ended up in Solas' hands after he hunted for it for years.

"The Horror of Hormak" was a popular chapter that revealed elven architecture in the Deep Roads, and possibly a new kind of Darkspawn. Grey Wardens discovered this place under a mountain by the Nevarran forest. There, they discovered twisted chimeras of different Darkspawn and creatures like halla and varterral. These creatures come out of a pool under a giant lyrium crystal, and the Wardens discover that drinking the liquid can also deform people. One Warden sacrifices their life to collapse these ruins while another escapes to warn the other Wardens, as it is hinted that 11 other mountains like this one can be found somewhere in Thedas.

An anti-slavery movement is on the rise in Tevinter as well, and the Venatori still exist and believe Corypheus' plan now falls to them since he has been defeated. It is also discovered that there are ancient catacombs under Minrathous that have markings hinting toward a massive blood magic spell that could summon a god-like being. This may have been part of Corypheus' plan to destroy Tevinter before rebuilding it, as the Venatori are looking into these catacombs with hopes of being able to summon this being.

The Antivan Crows are still active and involved in the ongoing battles of Thedas. Half of the Talons are assassinated by one of their own who made a deal with the qunari, as they told him killing the Talons would be a deal to keep Antiva safe. The Crows kill the traitor and start making plans to hit back at the qunari. They also plan to inform their hiers of the empty-Talon positions that need to be filled.

While the events of Inquisition take place in 9:41 to 9:42 Dragon (with Trespasser in 9:44 Dragon), the comics that feature Fenris take place in 9:44 to 9:45. They show more of the qunari invasion as well as what is happening in Tevinter. The comics show that Venatori have tried to use red lyrium to make warriors like Fenris that can help push back against the qunari invasion. For this, they use the lyrium idol.

Solas is able to spy on them from an eluvian, hinting as to how he got the idol in Tevinter Nights. The sarcophagus used in the ritual to make lyrium-infused people like Fenris is buried deep underground. This all occurs while qunari are invading Tevinter, and they kill mages and take children to be re-educated.
