Dragon Age: Dreadwolf is a game long anticipated by BioWare fans, and one of its developers may have confirmed its launch window after listing a 2024 release date on their LinkedIn profile.

Recently, BioWare began experiencing layoffs, as around 50 developers were fired from their projects, including some key personnel such as Lukas Kristjanson, the lead writer behind the first two Baldur's Gate titles, and Mary Kirby, who had written some of the most beloved Dragon Age characters in Varric and Sten. Many fans who grew up playing BioWare's legendary RPGs began to worry if Dragon Age: Dreadwolf and Mass Effect 4 would even end up seeing the light of day, as it felt like BioWare had never quite recovered after the disastrous launch of Anthem and the disappointment of Mass Effect: Andromeda.

There are good reasons to believe that Dragon Age: Dreadwolf will appear at The Game Awards ahead of the action-RPG’s rumored 2024 release.

Dragon Age: Dreadwolf Could Be Launching in 2024 After April

However, Senior Cinematic Animator Kevin Scott listed the following info in the experience section of their LinkedIn profile: "Animated gameplay characters using mocap and hand-keyed animation for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf (2024 release)." While this shouldn't be taken as a substitute for an official confirmation from Electronic Arts, it does add further weight to the rumors that Dreadwolf would be launching some time after April 2024.

The next Dragon Age game will take place in the Tevinter Imperium, a setting that fans have been clamoring to see since Dragon Age: Origins. It will also be the direct continuation of Solas' plot from Dragon Age: Inquisition, which remains the most successful launch of BioWare's history in terms of units sold. There is still an audience for a Dragon Age title, and Baldur's Gate 3 has made players eager for another fantasy RPG, but it remains to be seen if the developers can overcome the mistakes made in Anthem.

Dragon Age: Dreadwolf has been scrapped two times, and the third attempt has seen numerous delays, but Electronic Arts has allowed BioWare to take its time with the project, and to build it as the single-player title the company was once known for. With Dragon Age Day approaching, fans should expect to see some information on the game in December 2023, and hopefully get a new trailer and release date for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf.
