Anthem and Mass Effect: Andromeda were missteps for BioWare, but the legendary RPG developer is looking to fix its reputation and gets things back on track with its next projects. A new Mass Effect game is in active development, but the next Dragon Age is coming even sooner than that. Dragon Age 4 was first announced at The Game Awards 2018, and four years later it finally has an official title and logo.

BioWare has officially announced the title for the next Dragon Age game is Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, complete with a new purple and white logo. The game's title is in reference to Solas, the Dread Wolf, a character whose involvement in the new game has been teased for years at this point. And with this, BioWare has confirmed that Dragon Age: Dreadwolf will feature Solas as the game's primary antagonist, while a player-created character will be the star of the show.

Unfortunately for anyone hoping that the Dragon Age: Dreadwolf release date might be this year, BioWare also confirmed that the game will not be launching in 2022. BioWare did not provide any kind of release window for Dragon Age: Dreadwolf at all beyond that we're "growing closer" to when it will be available. It stands to reason that the game could very well launch in 2023, but fans may want to keep their expectations in check until more details are available.

As it so happens, more details on Dragon Age: Dreadwolf will come at some point later this year. Developer BioWare didn't provide a specific date when fans can expect to learn more about Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, but some distinct possibilities come to mind.

While EA is not hosting an EA Play event this year like it usually does, it's possible fans could learn more about Dragon Age: Dreadwolf later this summer. It's even possible, though unlikely, that the game will be featured at Summer Game Fest on June 9. After all, Summer Game Fest is hosted by Game Awards host Geoff Keighley, and Dragon Age: Dreadwolf was originally revealed at The Game Awards.

However, "later this year" implies that the next Dragon Age: Dreadwolf reveal won't come until some time later than next week. Since that's the case, maybe the game will be featured at The Game Awards 2022 in December. Alternatively, it could be featured at upcoming PlayStation State of Play events or things of that nature. Ultimately, fans will just have to wait for BioWare to be willing to share more information to be sure.

Dragon Age: Dreadwolf is in development.
