With the upcoming season Dr. Stone: New World slated for release in April 2023, it’s undeniable that the anime is popular enough for a third installment. Many believe that the anime series is not popular as it should be. The refreshing story of the anime brings forth a combination of great plotline and education with comedy. Although the series is an original and inventive anime, it hasn’t reached a massive level of fame.

The manga Dr. Stone was serialized in 2017 and became a hit that led to an anime adaptation. Iconic characters emerged from the series especially the protagonist Senku Ishigami who’s received a mixed reception from the viewers. The anime brings in some fresh concept for the anime viewers. Despite being grounded with hard sciences such as biology and chemistry, Dr. Stone is far from being boring and ordinary anime.

Senku’s Out Of This World Abilities

Dr. Stone Senku Ishigami

Though a few good people might argue that Senku is not as smart, he’s very resourceful. His capability in science is exceptional that he was able to rebuild a civilization. Surviving in an uninhabited wilderness is not easy especially when one is used to technology since there is almost no human progress at the time. Not only did he survive, but he resurrected the humanity by bringing back the civilization.

The protagonist of the series can surely fend for himself as he was able to prove his skills after several feats in the series. Senku made inventions in the series and is the perfect embodiment of the saying knowledge is power. He has a massive power by bringing back the humanity to its peak again. He might have been portrayed initially as an arrogant and egocentric character, but he turned out to be a loyal and stand-up guy with innovative and distinctive personality.

The character development of the main character of the show is exhibited very well. Senku has turned himself for the better to improve the civilization. Senku’s determination to bring back science and technology to the world can be seen as he builds Kingdom of Science. He made up for his lack of physical ability with his persistent and determined personality. The best thing about Senku is not only did he memorize each chemical and real world technological evolution, but he knows how to apply these theories in his own tactical way.

The Unique World Building Plot Combined With Human

Chrome from Dr. Stone

It’s fascinating how Senku was able to build an entire civilization from scratch. Since the setting of the series is roughly around 3700 years following the first Petrification event, the environment in the anime is a much more jarring and wilder world for humanity.

The show excellently conveyed what humanity can achieve when there’s synergy in the environment. The combination of perseverance and teamwork worked like a charm for the Kingdom of Science. It’s a great foundation that every main character on the show seemed to have especially when they’re interacting with one another. The show also shows to not lose faith on humanity as characters evolve into better humans.

The harmony of the group conveyed on the show is moving. It’s heartwarming to see Senku turn others to become his allies just like how Chrome quickly turned into one of Senku’s loyal comrades after seeing his capabilities. Chrome is a very capable companion seeing how he comes up with ideas for technological advances.

Seamless Entertainment And Education

Gen Asagiri from Dr. Stone

What makes Dr. Stone different is the educational learning from the series. The characters on the series use real life grounded science to solve most of their daily problems. The show perfectly blends the entertainment and education of accurate science on the show.

Other shows based on the theme of survival focus more on the drama rather than making it a comedic one, but Dr. Stone is a perfect combination of both. The show educates the viewers with the basic science essential for survival while simultaneously entertaining them.

Some people might find science uninteresting and taxing but watching Senku break down the procedures and teach them to the members of the Kingdom Of Science who knew nothing about the modern technology today is amusing. The learning part of the show was handled well as the viewers learn the things Senku is teaching the same time as the uncivilized people.

The show found a creative way to teach science. Although just like any other anime out there, there are some illogical aspects of science on the show. However, these illogical instances are much needed to get the plot moving and keep the audience entertained. The substantial amount of research of the production crew behind the scene is quite impressive.

The show flawlessly uses the personalities of each character to accentuate their arguments. Just like how the show changed Gen Asagiri’s character on Dr. Stone with science. He was initially portrayed as a character who only does things for his own good, but he came into his senses when he realized how powerful science can be. Asagiri’s character progress shows great development thanks to science.
