UPDATE: According to Rod Breslau, who frequently leaks video game information, Dr Disrespect is permanently banned from Twitch, and the cause is not a DMCA. The story is still developing, and will be updated as more information is released. Original story follows:

Popular streamer Dr Disrespect has seemingly been banned for Twitch, though as of this writing, the reason for the ban is unclear. The streamer has been involved in several controversies in the past, so its possible Twitch re-evaluated the streamer's standing on the platform. However, it's still too early to say.

Currently, any users that attempt to access Dr Disrespect's Twitch page will be met with the typical "Sorry. Unless you’ve got a time machine, that content is unavailable" error message. Additionally, the streamer's clips have seemingly been removed from the website, essentially putting a complete block on the streamer's Twitch presence. So far, Disrespect hasn't made a statement in regards to the situation, though fans should expect some kind of response in the near future.

Right now, fans of the streamer have been speculating as to what may have caused the ban, though nothing has been confirmed yet. Disrespect is one of the most popular streamers on the platform, so his removal, whether permanent or temporary, is something of a surprise. Disrespect has an incredibly large following, and has maintained a position as a top streamer throughout his career. Twitch's ban will likely result in a vitriolic response from Dr Disrespect's fan base, regardless of whether it's temporary or permanent.

One emerging piece of speculation is that the streamer may have received a DMCA ban, which would make sense considering Twitch's recent surge of copyright-related issues on the platform. However, it still isn't clear if that's the case, and should be taken with a grain of salt. If that is the case, however, it shows how dedicated Twitch has become to avoiding copyright controversy, which would have the potential to seriously harm the platform were outside companies to escalate the issue.

In the past, Disrespect made headlines for streaming in a public bathroom at E3, which led to a temporary ban and a slew of criticism directed at Twitch, with many believing that the ban — lasting only a few days — was too lenient. This story is currently developing and will be updated as more information is revealed.
