Herschel Beahm IV, better known as Dr Disrespect, said that he "didn't do anything wrong" during the events that led to his mysterious Twitch ban. His statement was offered in response to the allegation that his permanent Twitch exit was a result of him "sexting a minor."

That claim was made by Cody Conners, a former Twitch Account Director of Strategic Partnerships who's been at the company over an eight-year period ending in 2023. Taking to Twitter on June 21, Conners alleged that Dr Disrespect's 2020 Twitch ban was a result of him "sexting a minor" via Whispers, a private messaging feature that was part of the platform at the time but has since been discontinued. The former Twitch official said that the streamer was trying to convince the said minor to meet up with him at TwitchCon 2020, which took place in late September of that year, some three months prior to the purported incident said to have prompted his permanent Twitch departure.

Dr Disrespect shared his initial response to the allegation less than two hours after it went live, stating that "no wrongdoing was acknowledged" by either him or Twitch over his ban from the platform. The streamer attempted to elaborate on that claim a day later, having done so in a June 22 tweet saying "I didn’t do anything wrong, all this has been probed and settled, nothing illegal, no wrongdoing was found, and I was paid." The remark about getting paid was referring to Twitch's decision to pay out the rest of Dr Disrespect's contract as part of their early 2022 settlement that ended the streamer's lawsuit over the ban.

The social media reactions to the streamer's follow-up statement are a bit of a mixed bag. While many of his fans expressed their support for him in response to the controversy, other people noted that the original allegation of Dr Disrespect "sexting a minor" via Twitch Whispers remained unanswered. As to why that is, the content creator's June 22 tweet suggested that he couldn't respond to the accusation directly due to "legal obligations" stemming from his settlement with Twitch.

Not everyone chiming in on the ensuing discourse appeared satisfied with that explanation, with some social media users opining that if Conners's allegations were true, Twitch would have been just as interested in burying the fact that its platform was used for soliciting minors as the person responsible for the said soliciting. Given the legal red tape surrounding the streamer's exit from the platform, the chances of his departure ever being fully clarified to the public appear slim, leaving Dr Disrespect's Twitch ban to continue lingering in the streaming space.
