Popular streamer Dr Disrespect spoke out recently about why he's not interested in playing Lost Ark. This is an unexpected turn of events given the impressive hype that's built up around the upcoming MMO's release.

Lost Ark is co-developed by Tripod Studios and Smilegate. It's set to become the latest MMO published by Amazon Games, following the release of New World in 2021. New World met significant hype upon release, but the game struggled to maintain its player base. Lost Ark is picking up where New World left off, already gaining over 500,000 players on Steam before the release date. There are plenty of gamers excited for Lost Ark, except for one notable individual.

Dr Disrespect, the former Twitch streamer, who following a ban in 2020 migrated to YouTube, has stated that he thinks Lost Ark will be a "snooze." In a recent conversation with TimTheTatman, Dr Disrespect wouldn't budge on his opinion. TimTheTatman praised Lost Ark's MMO experience, saying that everything from “leveling your character” to acquiring “rare gear” stood out as highlights. Dr Disrespect argued his point of view by asking TimTheTatman “where’s the skill though?" However, fans of the MMO would likely point towards the fact that Amazon's Lost Ark offers much more to do than endless combat.

Dr Disrespect is a gamer who has built a reputation for playing highly competitive games, especially shooters. He racked up over 4 million followers on Twitch playing Battle Royale video games, such as H1Z1, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, Black Ops 4: Blackout, Call of Duty: Warzone, Apex Legends, and Fortnite. Dr Disrespect recently praised the new Battle Royale game Super People, so he favors fast-paced gameplay and high mechanical skill caps.

It is easy to see how many would argue against Dr Disrespect. Gamers have long found ways of demonstrating their skills in MMO games and would point to the intricacy of their build crafting and ability combos. A player's commitment to the lore and the role-play can also be reflective of skill, and Lost Ark is offering Impressive Character Class Customization in this area. But for Dr Disrespect, it's not enough. He argued, “MMOs are one of those games where I couldn’t tell the difference between who's a better player” and said if he was watching a stream on Twitch, he'd prefer something like Call of Duty: Warzone veteran Michael "shroud" Grzesiek.

Lost Ark is available in Europe and North America on February 11 on PC.
