Activision Blizzard is getting ready to release Call of Duty: Warzone 2, but because the first game will remain accessible, some fans are already critical of the inevitable sequel. One of the outspoken critics of Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is YouTube content creator Dr Disrespect who has said that the game needs a developer change to be successful.

Call of Duty: Warzone has evolved through many updates since its release in 2020, and Activision Blizzard is working on a sequel to the battle royale that is expected to take things a step further. Because the first Warzone has been a live-service title since its release, some battle royale players wonder why it's getting a sequel instead of a revamped map like when the game moved from Verdansk to the Pacific Caldera island. Although Dr Disrespect is hopeful for Call of Duty: Warzone 2, he had some choice words for developer Raven Software and how Warzone needs core changes that would be a better fit for another studio.

During a recent livestream conversation between Dr Disrespect and TimTheTatman, the topic of Call of Duty: Warzone was brought up, and the two-time champion had multiple criticisms of how the battle royale has been handled so far. "If Raven is building Warzone 2, they might as well chalk it right now," said Dr Disrespect during the YouTube discussion with TimTheTatman. When TimTheTatman went to defend the developers at Raven Software and their work, Dr Disrespect doubled down. According to Dr Disrespect, Activision Blizzard should request that Treyarch create Warzone 2 instead, and it may be fitting given that the developer has already shipped a battle royale in the form of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's Blackout mode.

Dr Disrespect has been a critic of Call of Duty: Warzone on multiple occasions, and he may be ready to dismiss Warzone 2 if it shares the same gameplay, personality, look, and fiction. During the YouTube livestream, Dr Disrespect praised the shift from Blackout to Warzone while suggesting that if a similar shift isn't made from the developer side of things, Call of Duty: Warzone 2 may be too similar to the initial experience. Summarizing his thoughts into a simple sentence, Dr Disrespect stated that "they just can't do what Battlefield did," in reference to Battlefield 2042 which was released to many criticisms from the community.

Many Dr Disrespect fans took to the replies to this chat between him and TimTheTatman to express appreciation for his move to YouTube Gaming after his Twitch ban, while others had ideas of their own like a Escape from Tarkov-style game mode, and a battle royale set in space like Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. Most of the comments agreed with Dr Disrespect's stance on a new Treyarch battle royale game, but others suggested that Infinity Ward would be a more natural fit given that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is on the horizon as well.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is in development.
