Sniper is one such Dota 2 hero that is perfect for beginners without experience. However, this guide will fully illustrate how to play the hero and what item build works best for a massive kill streak that leads to a win.

How To Play Sniper

Sniper Starter Items

To play Sniper, players should get the following starter items:

  • Observer Ward (For Vision)
  • Tango (To recover lost health)
  • Slipper of Agility
  • Circlet
  • 2X Clarity (To recover mana)

The Slipper of Agility and Circlet can be upgraded to the Wraith Band.

Since Sniper is a mid-laner, as evident with popular streamers and their plays, players must focus on getting as much farm as possible while keeping the opposing mid-laner at bay using the Shrapnel ability. Shrapnel can also be used on the enemy creeps to get last hits when their HP is low. While farming mid, players should acquire the following abilities: Shrapnel > Headshot > Take Aim. Once the Sniper reaches level 6, players should immediately acquire the Assassinate ability.

Sniper Preview

Initially, spend more points on the Shrapnel and Headshot ability. These abilities will allow the player to kill enemy creeps quicker. If the opposing hero gets too close, Sniper can use the Headshot passive ability to cause serious damage. If the opposing hero has lost a lot of health, quickly use the Assassinate ability to put them out of their misery. It is worth noting the Assassinate ability can be used on any visible enemy on the map. The ability can be used to kill enemy heroes with low health or to save an ally if they are about to be killed.

As for the best Sniper build, players should invest in the following items before trying weird builds they come across online:

  • Wraith Band
  • Power Treads (Switch to Agility)
  • Dragon Lance (Increases range and agility. Upgradeable to Hurricane Pike for quick escapes)
  • Shadow Blade (Grants attack speed, attack damage, and invisibility. The item can be upgraded to Silver Edge so that Sniper can gank enemy heroes that are jungling solo)
  • Daedalus (Grants 88 damage, and each attack has a 30% chance of 225% damage)
  • Maelstrom (Deals 24 attack damage with chain lightning. The item can be upgraded to Glepnir for strength, agility, intelligence, and attack damage. Additionally, Glepnir can be activated to root enemies for 2 seconds)

Dota 2 is available on PC.
