A retail listing by Amazon France seemingly leaks the release date for the upcoming Doom reboot, pointing to a June 30th launch on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

The theme of the past 24 hours has been release dates for big name games leaking thanks to retailers' mistakes. We saw this with the Homefront: The Revolution release date that was leaked by Target, and the possible Mafia 3 release date leaked by numerous other retailers. Now it's Doom's turn.

Users of Amazon France discovered that the site now pegs Doom for a June 30th release across all platforms. It's entirely possible that this is just a placeholder date, but common practice is to list games without a confirmed release date as launching December 31st. This makes Doom's listed release date of June 30th on Amazon France suspicious, and also helps add to its legitimacy.

Of course, fans of the game should take this supposedly leaked release date with a grain of salt, as publisher Bethesda has yet to say anything official. While there are many times when retailer leaks do turn out to be true, there are just as many instances where they don't. Until Bethesda or id Software offer an official announcement on Doom's release date, all we know is the game is set to hit some time this year.

That being said, it would be nice if the June 30th release date turns out to be accurate. The summer months are traditionally very light for the gaming industry, with most of the year's biggest games releasing during the holidays or spring. A blockbuster game like the Doom reboot would help fill the summer gaming void, and after Doom's epic gameplay reveal trailer at last year's E3, it looks like the game has a good shot at delivering a quality gaming experience that would keep gamers busy until fall.

Perhaps gamers will have an opportunity to get their hands on the blood-soaked gameplay of Doom even before June 30th. After all, a Doom open beta is still being planned, and if the June 30th release date is true, that means the beta could be right around the corner. Fans have been waiting a long time to get their hands on the Doom multiplayer in any form, and they may soon get their chance.

While we wait for news on the multiplayer beta and any comment from Bethesda in regards to Doom's leaked release date, gamers will have to tide themselves over by re-watching some of the gameplay videos, like this Doom closed alpha footage, that have been released so far. Here's hoping the leaked release date is right on the money.

Doom currently has no official release date, but it's slated for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
