Doom Patrol season 4 has set a release window for its final episodes on Warner Bros. Discovery's Max platform.

Based on the eponymous team from the pages of DC Comics, Doom Patrol brought some of the more strange and unlikely heroes on the DC roster to live-action, starting with its first season released exclusively on DC Universe in 2019. Fans had a great time following the misadventures of the titular team, and the show would go on to receive renewals for a second and third season, also strategically moving over to then-HBO Max in time for the streamer to greenlight Doom Patrol season 4, which now goes by Max.

Despite the excitement surrounding the confirmation of a renewal, fans would develop mixed feelings when it was announced that Doom Patrol would end with season 4 alongside the cancelation of fellow DC live-action show Titans. Now, the release window for Doom Patrol's final episodes has been announced, with the show slated to return in October 2023. The series will pick up where it left off after its mid-season finale episode in January, according to show director Bosede Williams when he spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the final run.

"The show creator [Jeremy Carver] really wanted to present Orqwith to the fans, because they've been talking about it since Season 1," Williams explained. "We knew that it should be dark and completely disorienting because the characters have never seen anything like it. It should be gloomy, just to really take them out of their elements." With the team being confronted with their mortality, the stakes are raised, which is a good retention of quality, as many fans believe that Doom Patrol is DC's best TV project. Nailing the show's final season will go a long way to cement that legacy in the eyes of fans and critics.

It is worth noting that DC Studios boss James Gunn denies pulling the plug on Doom Patrol, leading some to hope that the new DCU will consider bringing the show and its stars into the fold. However, with creature commandos added to the slate as a prominent first DCU project, the niche filled by the cast of Doom Patrol might be spoken for.

Doom Patrol is available for streaming on Max, with the second half of season four set to debut in October 2023.
