Today, Bethesda and id Software released a new trailer for Doom Eternal that introduces a new enemy type to the Doom franchise. The Doom Hunter is the latest formidable adversary that the Doom Slayer will face in Hell.

Doom Eternal is the hotly anticipated follow-up to 2016's reimagining of the Doom franchise, easily one of the best games of 2016. Aside from introducing the formidable Doom Hunter, the trailer shows off some of the mobility enhancements the sequel is making, like dashes and one extremely impressive long jump over the Hunter's head.

The new adversary is specifically built to hunt the slayer and is an unholy mixture of demon and electronics. The creature looks quite a bit like a souped-up version of a cyber demon from the original Doom, but with what looks to be a flamethrower as one hand and a chainsaw as the other. Not much was shown of this massive demon, but shooting rockets at the Doom Slayer appears to be one of their regular moves.

The Doom Hunter footage appears to be in the context of the campaign, but it's unclear if they will be playable in Doom Eternal's Battlemode multiplayer mode. The Battlemode is an asymmetrical 2v1 multiplayer where two players take the reigns as demons trying to kill the Doom Slayer. It would be awesome to play the Doom Hunter in this context, but it may need some balance changes depending on how OP it becomes.

Game ZXC has called Doom Eternal one of its most anticipated games of Fall 2019. We are looking forward to seeing how it turns out, especially after seeing more footage at Google's Stadia Connect today.

DOOM Eternal is coming to PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One on November 22, 2019.
