Doom Eternal is coming out this year and many fans are excited to see the sequel to the acclaimed reboot. The new game appears to be borrowing elements from different aspects of the gaming franchises long history. While there are familiar characters from the entire history of the series in the game, the recent announcement confirms that there will be a familiar enemy for those who can remember Doom 2.

The Doom franchise had such an impact on its initial release in 1993 that first-person shooters were often called Doom-shooters. The series was rebooted in 2016 and continued the beloved sci-fi and apocalyptic shooting. Doom Eternal looks to continue the bloody action of its predecessors and because of this anticipation for the title has grown over the last year.

Doom Eternal has faced delays, but now seems to be coming in the next couple of months. The director of the game, Hugo Martin, in an interview discussed the upcoming enemies in the game. There seems to be plenty of enemy variations with specific skillsets to challenge players but the Arachnotron will please fans of the franchise. The eight-legged hybrid monster who originally appeared in Doom 2 uses a plasma cannon and looks to be a challenge for players. Not only that but the enemy looks as frightening as ever. Although Martin did provide some tricks that players will find handy when they come face to face with the horrifying enemy.

Footage of Doom Eternal has been released to a very positive reception, and many have been satisfied with the shooting as well as the improved visuals. The enemies look terrifying and the new visuals of old enemies highlight how far the game franchise has come. Despite its delay, Doom Eternal seems to have kept fans eager through its announcements of new enemies, trailers, and the promise of bringing the action home to Earth.

Doom Eternal is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated games of 2020 and this latest reveal will only add to the excitement. Whether the game can build on past titles and delivers fast-paced apocalyptic gore remains to be seen, but early signs are hopeful. Many will be looking forward to arming the Doomguy and shooting their way through enemies from the past and present.
