Despite its unfortunate delay late last year, Doom Eternal is finally set to hit shelves in just over a week's time. Recent trailers and gameplay videos have indicated that the explosive, gloriously over the top, demon-slaying shooter will definitely be worth the wait as well, with each clip of gameplay showing that the sequel is somehow even more gloriously brutal than its 2016 predecessor. Yet, it seems there will be a few new additions to this highly-anticipated sequel, including far more customization options than ever before.

Showcased in a new trailer on the Bethesda Softworks YouTube channel titled "Doom Eternal - Personalize Your Doom Slayer," it appears that this iteration of the popular franchise will allow players to change the skin of the franchise's silent protagonist for the first time. Although it seems these changes are merely cosmetic, it's undeniably an incredibly fun new addition to Bethesda's already exciting upcoming release.

The trailer itself shows a cutscene from Doom Eternal, with the Doom Slayer changing skin as he progresses through the cinematic. These costumes range from nostalgic classics to hilarious variations, with the likes of the classic Doom 64 skin, a more gladiatorial take on the Doom armor, and a heavily damaged rendition of the game's default skin taking center stage. Hilariously, it's the trailer's final skin that leaves the best impression, with the camera slowly zooming in on the Doom Slayer's back as his attire switches to a vibrant white and pink armor set with a unicorn helmet, before the game's protagonist turns and stares at the camera intensely. Evidently, the staple Doom humor will be present even in its range of skins.

The description of the trailer seem to reveal more about what fans can expect from the feature, stating "unlock various skins, animations, and podiums by playing DOOM Eternal. Personalize your DOOM Slayer for photo mode and the single-player campaign. Then, slay with your friends in BATTLEMODE, where you can personalize your DOOM Slayer and playable demons." Evidently, this feature will extend to the multiplayer aspects of Doom Eternal as well, allowing players to also custom-fit their demonic avatars with new skins.

Finally, the trailer reveals that members of Twitch Prime can redeem the aforementioned "Doomicorn" skin for a limited time, encouraging members of the streaming site to "Simply link your Twitch account to your Bethesda.net account and claim this collection of skins, player animations, and upgradeable podium." Its inclusion in the trailer is proof the hilarious skin will be a must-have for players, so eager Twitch Prime members should link their accounts as soon as possible.

Doom Eternal is set for release on Google Stadia, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on March 20, with a Nintendo Switch version of the game coming at a later date.
