Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is a brutal movie. It might be the most violent Marvel movie in quite some time. There will be moments in this movie where fans might gasp at not only who dies, but how they die. It can be a disturbing movie which is great for the MCU.

More movies need to be different and hopefully Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is just the start. It was a great idea to get Sam Raimi on board who knows how to film disturbing content. Of the characters that die in the movie, both good and bad, here are the wildest. There will be spoilers.

8 Earth-838 Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange looking at a statue of himself in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

The Earth-838 version of Doctor Strange seemed like a decent guy. They built statues of him in his world for defeating Thanos. While this is true, he also had to use the Darkhold to get the job done. This means he knew at some point he would become corrupted by the book.

That’s why he was resigned to the fact that his fellow Illuminati members had to kill him. The person that finished off Doctor Strange was Black Bolt by whispering, “I’m sorry.” That is a brutal quote in the movie. It’s hard to know if being turned into dust by words would hurt or not but it was still wild all the same.

7 Sara

A scene featuring characters in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Sara was one of the sorcerers fighting Wanda at the Kamar-Taj. She is the one that plunges the dagger into the Darkhold, thus destroying Wanda’s grasp on reality. This was both a good and bad thing.

On the good side, Sara temporarily halted Wanda’s progress. On the bad side, Wanda found another route anyway. Sara also dies in this scene by turning into stone and eventually dust. It’s not a violent death in the movie but the idea of turning to stone is horrific.

6 Professor X

Professor X from X-Men

One of the most exciting moments of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was getting to see Professor X in an MCU movie. That was big for fans of the other movies. It wasn’t the full team of X-Men, but it was a start. Unfortunately, Professor X got a tragic death.

He was trying to help his reality’s version of Wanda escape from Scarlet Witch’s mind prison. In the process, Scarlet Witch sneaks up on Professor X and snaps his neck thus killing him in real life. It could have been worse. She could have ripped off his head completely.

5 Shuma-Gorath

Shuma-Gorath from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

Shuma-Gorath is a creature that some fans may be more familiar with because of the Marvel vs Capcom series. It was one of the playable characters albeit in a much smaller state. Shuma-Gorath was a villain so it can be hard to sympathize with a creature of this magnitude in a superhero film.

Still, it’s safe to say no one likes the idea of getting their eyeball violently popped out of their head followed by numerous cuts to the body. That’s something fans can relate to in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness even if Shuma-Gorath had it coming.

4 Darkhold Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

There’s no official name for this version of Doctor Strange. He could be called Evil Doctor Strange or Darkhold Doctor Strange. Either way, it’s the version Earth-616 Strange fights in the broken reality. This evil doppelgänger gets the worst death of all the Doctor Strange men in the film.

He gets shot out of a window and then lands on his fence. It’s a death that is straight out of Mortal Kombat. It was a bit surprising that he didn’t jump off the fence and keep going. They could be saving that for a sequel encounter though.

3 Captain Carter

Agent Carter from What If

This was not the first time that Peggy Carter was depicted as Captain America instead of Steve Rogers in the MCU. The What If cartoon showcased this possibility too. Whether Earth-838 is the same universe as the What If show is unknown.

What is known is that Captain Carter kicks butt in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Unfortunately, she also gets sliced in half by her shield. The movie doesn’t show her being dissected down the middle but it should have. More MCU movies need to be rated R.

2 Reed Richards

Reed Richards from the comics

Reed Richards popping up was more surprising than even Professor X. There have only been three big-budget Fantastic Four movies. All three were owned by Fox and since they were bought, fans have been waiting to see Richards and the rest of the gang appear in the MCU.

This might not have been what fans had in mind though. Did they wish Richards would be stretched out and turned into bits of rubber by Scarlet Witch? The answer is probably not. Imagine being cut into pieces like string cheese and how that must feel.

1 Black Bolt

Black Bolt from Inhumans

Black Bolt deals a massive blow to Earth-838 Strange and gets the worst death in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. He is the first of the Illuminati to go during the fight with the Scarlet Witch. She removes his mouth. In a panic, Black Bolt whispers in his head. The speech reflects on him and explodes his brain in the process.

There is not a single death more graphic in the film than this. If Captain Carter was shown being cut in two with her organs spilling out then maybe she’d win. As of right now the honor, or more dishonor, goes to Black Bolt.
