Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is nearing its release date, and the tickets were released just the other day. Based on the numbers, the Doctor Strange sequel is outperfoming every other 2022 film in ticket pre-sales, including The Batman.

Doctor Strange will return after being heavily involved in the Spider-Man: No Way Home film. The climatic events of that film have caused the multiverse to spiral, and many fans are expecting Doctor Strange 2 to be an intense movie with many new elements being introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole.

Fandango announced that they sold more Doctor Strange 2 tickets during its first 24 hours of pre-sales than for any other 2022 film in the same period, including Robert Pattinson's The Batman. Furthermore, the first day pre-sales for Doctor Strange 2 are Fandango's biggest since tickets for Spider-Man: No Way Home went on sale in late November 2021. “The epic first day of presales for ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ proves fans are beyond excited to experience all the thrills, chills and blockbuster surprises Marvel Studios is known to deliver,” said Fandango Managing Editor Erik Davis.

Doctor Strange 2 is so pivotal because it's coming right off the heels of Spider-Man: No Way Home. This movie can either fix the multiverse or destroy it based on the outcome of the movie. Loki and No Way Home set up the multiverse, but Doctor Strange 2 looks to be the first MCU project that will truly explore alternate worlds. Regardless of what Doctor Strange actually does, it's clear that nothing will ever be the same once the movie is out, and Marvel fans can't wait.

Marvel fans are really looking forward to the X-Men joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as well as other characters such as Doctor Doom, The Fantastic Four, Galactus and Silver Surfer. Perhaps the multiverse will pave the way for these characters to finally join the MCU. In the meantime, fans will have to settle for what's current, and right now Moon Knight is out on Disney Plus for those who need something Marvel-related to watch.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be in theaters on May 4th, 2022.
