The Twitch streamer known as DNP3, who according to his account is sometimes hailed as the Oprah of Twitch and Twitter for his huge giveaways, has made a statement to his followers confessing a gambling addiction. This announcement comes after recent controversy and criticism regarding gambling streams that had previously gained popularity on Twitch.Within the past few months, controversial gambling streams on Twitch have been a hot topic among many users of the platform. From streamers like ItsSliker facing accusations of defrauding people to Adin Ross being paid reportedly around $900,000 in a partnership with the gambling site Stake, many Twitch users believe that the gambling streams on the site have gotten out of hand. For years, gambling streams have gone relatively unchecked on the platform, eventually leading the streaming genre to reach a climax that caused Twitch to update its community guidelines.RELATED: Pokimane Calls On Twitch To Ban Gambling StreamsEven with Twitch updating community guidelines in order to try and put a stop to this type of content, streamer DNP3 revealed in a tweet that links to a TwitLonger post that he has become addicted to gambling. The streamer states that the vast majority of his money has gone to Stake, known for its crypto gambling and sports betting. Not only does DNP3 state that he's lost his life savings due to this addiction, but he has also gambled away investor funds in an ill-fated attempt to win his money back.

DNP3 follows this shocking revelation by stating he is currently working with a group of people to help him work towards recovery and that he will eventually be creating another tweet that will update fans on where he stands with other projects he's been involved in. Ending his message in a somber apology, the statement shows that despite updating community guidelines, Twitch's response may have been too late when cracking down on gambling streams.

Many other gambling streamers like DNP3 have created tight-knit communities around their streams and have grown into a niche that thrives on gambling content. Although Twitch updated its policies and community guidelines, much of the damage has already been done, and DNP3's incredibly unfortunate situation is a prime example of that damage. The allowance of gambling streams on Twitch has created an enormous beast that guideline changes may not be able to put down. With bloated sponsorships to streamers from sites like Stake and online communities that have been established for years, gambling streams have grown into a genre that will just find a new home other than Twitch, and with that, more unfortunate cases like DNP3.
