Disney Dreamlight Valley houses many different gems, totaling about 24 together. 12 of those are normal, and the rest are Shiny versions of the same gemstones. There isn't much of a different between the two, but each can be needed for different tasks throughout the game. Sometimes, certain gems are harder to find or can be limited to certain biomes, which players might not have unlocked yet.
If players plan to finish all the available missions in Disney Dreamlight Valley, and collect all the items, they will need to get their hands on several different gemstones. Fortunately, this is fairly simple for those who know where to look. Before they go looking for Tourmaline or any other gemstone, players will want to make sure their energy is filled, as it takes a lot to go mining.
Where To Find Tourmaline
Finding Tourmaline is fairly easy in Disney Dreamlight Valley, but it can only be found in two biomes. One of the biomes is Frosted Heights, which is usually one of the last locations that the player unlocks. With this in mind, Sunlit Plateau will be the easier option to look for Tourmaline. The only tool needed will be a pickax. If the player wishes, they can bring along a mining companion to help them get more gems faster. This also helps level up their friendship with that character. Mining takes more energy than normal Valley activities, so players should come prepared with some food supplies to replenish energy.
The rocks which a player hits to mine gems are called nodes. While mining them, players have chance of mining some Shiny Tourmaline. This applies to all the gemstone types, as well as their Shiny twins. Shiny Tourmaline is rarer than some other Shiny gems, so players might need to mine for a bit longer to find it.
Once players have found Tourmaline, they can give it as a gift to villagers to gain extra friendship XP, or to complete missions. It can also be sold for quite a few Star Coins. Tourmaline can be sold for 420 Star Coins, while Shiny Tourmaline is sold for 1.6k Star Coins. After collecting a couple to keep for missions, selling the leftovers would be beneficial for players.
