Disney Dreamlight Valley is a fantastical story-based adventure where players build up a thriving community featuring many iconic Disney characters in an abandoned village called Dreamlight Valley. Collecting valuable resources found throughout the valley is essential for completing friendship quests to unlock new areas, characters, and tools.
Since Scar's Kingdom update dropped, Sapphires are a rare gem found only in one area. Sapphires can be used for various purposes, but gathering them takes time due to their location and random spawn rate. This guide covers where to find Sapphires and what to use them for in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
Where to Find Sapphires in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Sapphires are found in the Vitalys Mines in Sunlit Plateau. Players can mine them like any other jewel or mineral in rock spots protruding from cliffs and stone walls. However, Sunlit Plateau is on the northwest side of the valley. Players must remove the giant night thorns blocking the entrance to enter.
Unlock the Sunlit Plateau
It costs 7,000 Dreamlight to clear away the night thorns to unlock the Sunlit Platea. Dreamlight is earned as players complete their daily foraging, fishing, and mining activities, interact with the villagers, or collect Dream Shards. Dream Shards can be used at a crafting station to turn into Dreamlight, and are found in shining spots on the ground or when players remove night thorns. After unlocking the Sunlit Plateau, starting Scar's first friendship quest is the key to getting to the Vitalys Mines.
Explore the Vitalys Mines
The "Nature and Nurture" quest is only available after players have finished Mother Gothel's "The Curse" and welcomed her to the valley. Scar is hanging out in the Elephant Garden, and after releasing Mother Gothel, he will recruit players to help to restore the river flowing through the Sunlit Plateau. Then they can begin Scar's quest and unlock the entrance to the mines.
Sapphires are found throughout the mines using the pickaxe against the stone deposits on the walls. Players should consider bringing one of the villagers as a companion to earn double the gems while mining. They can also eat cooked meals to give their avatar the Well-Fed bonus, increasing their luck in finding valuable items while collecting things.
The mines are maze-like, but the deposits respawn relatively fast. Sapphires are only one of several gems that can spawn in the Vitalys Mines, so it may take some time before players gather a large number. Mining also decreases Energy quickly, so keeping some fruit or cooked meals on them is wise. Using the Miracle Pickaxe Polish is another way to increase the amount of Sapphires gathered from one deposit.
Sapphires can be used as a gift for villagers or sold at any of Goofy's Stalls for 350 Star Coins. Players may also find Shiny Sapphires in the mines, which are larger and more valuable versions of the gem. Shiny Sapphires are much rarer and can be sold for 1,400 Star Coins.
