There are a staggering amount of resources that players can find in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Since crafting and cooking are big features of this game, every resource that players find throughout Dreamlight Valley have their uses. The list only grows larger as more content gets added to the game during the Early Access period.
Looking at the second major update as an example, not only were Toy Story characters added but also some new resources similar to Rich Soil. One of these new resources is called Red Algae. When looking at it in-game, there is no description where to find this resource. So here is how players can get Red Algae.
How to Get Red Algae
Red Algae is a much more rare resource, just like Onyx is. In order to obtain it, Disney Dreamlight Valley players will need to go fishing in any body of water throughout Dreamlight Valley. It does not matter what biome that players choose to go fishing in, as Red Algae always has a chance of spawning when players catch something.
How to Increase Chances of Obtaining Red Algae
With how low the drop rate is for Red Algae, Disney Dreamlight Valley players may be wondering how they can improve their chances of getting more. After starting A Secret Mission in Uncharted Space, players will have the opportunity to talk to Merlin. He will give potions that enhance the royal tools temporarily, and one of them is called Miracle Fishing Bait.
With this potion, Disney Dreamlight Valley players can increase the chance of catching rarer fish which means they also have a grater chance of finding Red Algae. To increase chances of getting Red Algae further, players can bring along a companion with the fishing role.
What is Red Algae Used For?
At this point in Disney Dreamlight Valley, Red Algae is used exclusively for crafting. For players who want to make more Miracle Fishing Bait aside from the freebie provided by Merlin, Red Algae is used for crafting it. In order to make Miracle Fishing Bait, players will need 10 Vitalys Crystals, five Red Algae, and 1,000 Dreamlight. A more potent version of Miracle Fishing Bait can be made, but it is more expensive to craft.
Beyond the Miracle Fishing Bait, Disney Dreamlight Valley players can also craft Seaweed using Red Algae. One Red Algae can be used to make five Seaweed. This is an effective method of stocking up on Seaweed, especially if players need Fiber when they are crafting.
Can Red Algae Be Sold?
If Disney Dreamlight Valley players happen to be short on Star Coins or need to clear out some space, they do have the option to sell Red Algage at either Goofy's or Kristoff's Stall for 150 Star Coins. However, this is not necessarily recommended since Red Algae is a rare resource. Instead, it would be better to try and stock up on it in case it is needed during future updates.
