Disney Dreamlight Valley is a simulation game that is constantly evolving, with the developers adding new realms, items and mechanics as the title moves through the early-access stage and into free-to-play territory. Players can fish with Goofy, cook with Remy, and more as they work with Mickey Mouse and other Disney and Pixar favorites to save the inhabitants of Dreamlight Valley, who escaped to their home realms as "The Forgetting" twisted their town into ruin. Fortunately for fans, Disney Dreamlight Valley players can now find friends in two fan-favorite characters from Pixar's hit animated film Toy Story.

On December 6, French AAA Publisher Gameloft launched the life simulation game's latest free update. This update includes three new characters to meet and brings some festive holiday fun with new recipes, wardrobe items, and other cosmetic elements. The update also consists of some crucial quality-of-life changes, including players' ability to change their village's visual appearance to reflect day and night cycles, further upgrade tiers for the royal tools, and some much-needed bug fixes. Two of the new characters can be found in the Toy Story realm, a long-awaited addition to the game world.

Experience Bonnie's Room As A Toy

The Toy Story Dreamlight Valley realm takes players to Bonnie's room. Last seen in Toy Story 4, Bonnie Anderson is a young girl who takes ownership of Andy's toys after he gives them to her in Toy Story 3. When players arrive in the realm, they are also shrunk to the size of toys, allowing them to experience what life as one is like. On top of the new realm to explore, players can also experience brand-new content centered around Buzz Lightyear and Sheriff Woody.

In Buzz's first friendship quest - aptly named "A Secret Mission In Uncharted Space" - players embark on a mission to rescue Woody from a rogue-locked window. Once Woody is rescued, Buzz agrees to move into the village, allowing players to build his specialized RV. After Buzz moves into the town, players can return to Bonnie's room to start the quest "You're My Favorite Deputy." This quest tasks players with helping Woody rebuild and repair Bonnie's toy farm. Once the farm is complete, players can build a sweet wooden carousel for Woody to live in as a Dreamlight Valley resident.

Toy Story-Themed Friendship Items and Future Update Plans

Friendship items are a unique aspect of Disney Dreamlight Valley, providing players with various rewards like decorative items, hard-to-find star coins, and other perks only unlocked by completing character-specific quests boosting friendship XP with characters. Players who become friends with Buzz can unlock space-themed wallpaper and windows, a replica Zerg to hang on their wall, a unique Buzz Lightyear-themed outfit overlay, and even Buzz Lightyear's iconic jetpack.

Players who increase their Disney Dreamlight Valley friendship levels with Woody receive wild-west-themed rewards. Stand-out friendship items include cow print wallpaper, a decorative sheriff's badge, a cowboy hat standing lamp, a Woody-themed sheriff's outfit - complete with a stitched cowboy hat - and a backpack styled after Woody's famous pull-string attachment. While this collection of Toy Story-themed items is more than enough to satisfy hard-core fans, future updates could include more franchise favorites, like a Pizza Planet shirt, Jessie's cowboy boots, or even a Slinky Dog backpack.

As Disney Dreamlight Valley updates are released, only a few characters from each Disney or Pixar franchise appear in the game for players to befriend. While fans want Dreamlight Valley realms inspired by Tangled and Hercules, hopefully more Toy Story characters will appear in future realms too. Iconic locations from the Toy Story franchise, including Pizza Planet or Andy's Room, would be extraordinary realms for players to experience the nostalgia of the first films. Jessie, Slinky Dog, Rex, Hamm, and other characters would be fantastic additions to the game, especially given how popular those characters are outside their connections to Buzz and Woody. With a game this expansive, the sky is the limit.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is available now in early access for Mac, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
