The many characters who take up residence in Disney Dreamlight Valley truly live up to the iconic personalities depicted in their respective films. Buzz Lightyear, noble and justice-seeking Space Ranger, is no exception to this, demonstrating a persistent determination to patrol and protect the valley from the forces of evil.

Buzz is still hung up on his concerns regarding the various Disney villains who reside in the Valley. This time, he recalls a memory involving The Lion King’s Scar and is determined to learn more about this incident. Here’s what players need to know about completing the quest "The Fragmented Past" for Buzz Lightyear in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

How to Start the Quest "The Fragmented Past"

The quest “The Fragmented Past” becomes available upon reaching Friendship Level 6 with Buzz Lightyear. The player needs to have unlocked Scar and progressed through Friendship quests for the shunned heir to Pride Rock.

The player also needs to have completed a few quests for the rat chef Remy, as there is a bit of cooking involved for this quest requiring ingredients from his restaurant. Once these criteria are met, the quest will be unlocked in the player’s quest log.

How to Complete the Quest "The Fragmented Past"

Apparently, toys were just as affected by The Forgetting as the rest of the valley’s residents, and Buzz Lightyear is also gradually recovering his memories. He mentions having recalled a significant event in the Forest of Valor, but the specifics are still hazy. He decides that an investigation is necessary to pinpoint the details of this engagement, and sends the player out to search for clues.

Dig Up the First Clue near the Forest of Valor's River

In the Forest of Valor, the player should travel down the banks of the river that divides the biome until they find a sparkling digsite. Using the Royal Shovel at this location will uncover a memory fragment, revealing part of a scene depicting some sort of epic battle involving Buzz Lightyear and Scar.

Speak with Scar and Cook Requested Dishes

The player should head to Scar and discuss the memory fragment he and Buzz have discovered. Scar implies that the situation is misunderstood, and refuses to reveal more details of this battle until he has eaten. He gives the player two recipe books and tasks him with preparing a Fish Soup and Tuna Burger. To craft these recipes, gather the following ingredients:

Once the player has cooked both of these dishes at any cooking station, they should return to Scar and hand them over. He reveals that Buzz Lightyear was battling alongside Scar, not against him, in the memory's depiction. He sends the skeptical player to his cave to locate an item proving his past friendship with Buzz.

Collect the Memory Fragment in Scar’s Cave

Head to Scar’s Cave and grab the memory fragment found on the ground, and show it to Buzz. Buzz is surprised to learn from the new reveal that he and Scar were on the same side in this effort, and Scar sends the player to find yet another buried clue, this time in the Sunlit Plataeu.

The player should head to the river in Sunlit Plateau and fish in the orange fishing pools until they obtain the Old Fishing Rod. Open the inventory and use this item, and it unlocks the final fragment of the memory portrait. Will the full photo revealed, Buzz and the player discover that he and Scar weren’t battling, but were instead spending quality time fishing together with Goofy.

Follow Buzz to Scar and Listen to the Conversation

In the final part of the quest, Buzz runs off to locate Scar and clear up the confusion brought on by his Forgetting-addled memory. Scar begrudgingly forgives Buzz and, after the player speaks with Buzz one last time, this completes the quest “The Fragmented Past.”
