Two notable characters from Toy Story, Woody and Buzz Lightyear, are part of the Disney Dreamlight Valley universe, each stirring up their own brand of mischief. Buzz Lightyear, known for his courage as a Space Ranger, has committed himself to enhancing Dreamlight Valley's security against local villains.

However, throughout he and the player’s efforts in previous quests, Buzz has come to realize that his zealous endeavors may have led him to misinterpret the intentions of these residents. Here’s how players can complete “The Definition of a Hero,” the final quest of Buzz Lightyear’s Friendship quests, in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

How to Start the Quest "The Definition of a Hero"

The Dreamlight Valley quest, "The Definition of a Hero," is the final quest in Buzz Lightyear’s series of Friendship quests, which are unlocked as your bond with the Space Ranger through conversations, gift-giving, and having him accompany you in everyday activities. This quest is unlocked upon reaching Friendship Level 10 with Buzz Lightyear. The player must also have unlocked Moana and Remy to begin this mission.

Fishing with Scar in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

In the final chapter of Buzz Lightyear’s quest series, he finds himself confused yet again regarding his relationship with the valley’s villainous residents, including the sea witch Ursula and the begrudged lion Scar. He realizes that heroes can wear many different capes, and there’s more to being a hero than going after people just because they are canonically baddies. He decides he must make amends with those he has wronged while also brainstorming a new approach to keeping peace in the valley.

Accompany Buzz to Speak with Ursula

Player and Buzz Lightyear visit Ursula's home in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

Buzz’s first order of business is to apologize to Ursula for his incriminating accusations during the quest, "A Space Ranger Reputation." Follow Buzz to Ursula’s location and stand by as he has a conversation with the sea witch and attempts to restore their friendly bond.

Gather Materials and Craft Space Ranger Badges

Kristoff's Stall in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Once this conversation is over, Buzz asks the players to collect materials to craft Space Ranger Badges, which will later be distributed to potential new recruits. To make all three quest items, the player will need to gather the following materials.

If the player has completed Kristoff's Level 10 Friendship quest, " A Broken Sled ," his shop will be improved to sell a rotating assortment of rare materials. Once upgraded, Kristoff's Stall has a chance to sell many of the materials required for th quest, including Iron Ingot, Empty Vial, Fabric, and Glass. Be sure to check the current stock of Kristoff's Stall before going out to collect any of these materials.

Distribute the Space Ranger Badges

Buzz Lightyear decides on the first new recruits to the Space Rangers and asks the player to seek these characters out in the village and present them with their official Space Ranger Badge. The player needs to locate and deliver one of the badges to each of these characters:

Craft Items for the Star Command Academy Grand Opening

Crafting Asphalt in Disney Dreamlight Valley

This is definitely the most frustrating part of this quest series, as it requires a lot of materials that players may not already have on hand. Again, if the player has fully upgraded Kristoff's Stall, they may find him selling the Pebbles, Sand, or Iron Ingot required for th quest, and he will always have an unlimited quantity of Coal Ore for sale. To complete this part of “A Definition of a Hero,” the player is tasked with crafting the following items:

Required

Materials

How to Get

20 Asphalt

20 Sand

Sand can be collected by digging in Dazzle Beach.

20 Pebbles

Pebbles can be collected by digging in most biomes.

20 Coal Ore

Coal Ore can be mined from any mineral vein in Dreamlight Valley. Can be purchased from Kristoff's Stall once upgraded.

1 Blue and Silver Balloon Arch

10 Iron Ingot

20 Blue Falling Penstemon

Can be gathered in the Plaza biome.

20 Blue Star Lily

Can be gathered in the Forest of Valor biome.

20 Blue Marsh Milkweed

Can be gathered in the Glade of Trust biome.

The Asphalt is relatively easy to craft, requiring materials which are easy to gather at any time. Once crafted, the amount of Asphalt on hand can be checked in the Landscaping > Paths category of the Furniture menu.

Crafting balloon arch in Disney Dreamlight Valley

The Blue and Silver Balloon Arch, however, may prove to be a bit more of a challenge, as it requires a large quantity of each of the specific flowers. Flowers will only regrow after other flowers in that biome have been picked, and some time has passed. Additionally, there is no guarantee as to which type of flowers will regrow. Therefore, the player may find themselves stuck collecting flowers for quite a while until they obtain enough of the ones they need to craft this outdoor decor. Once the player has finally collected the necessary materials, they can head to any crafting station where they’ll find the Blue and Silver Balloon Arch recipe in the Furniture category.

Head to Buzz’s RV To Prepare

Buzz Lightyear quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

After crafting both items, the player should head back to Buzz’s RV, wherever the player has placed it in the valley. Here, they need to lay out the Asphalt on the ground nearby and place the Blue and Silver Balloon Arch in preparation for the Star Command Academy Grand Opening.

Obtain and Place Space Ranger Buffet

Once this is done, speak with Buzz, and he will give you a Space Ranger Buffet to place outside near the RV. He also asks the player to wear the Space Ranger Helmet and Space Ranger Wings, obtained during the quest “A Space Ranger Recruit,” but this is entirely optional.

After placing the Space Ranger Buffet, the player is prompted to take a photo commemorating the event. They can speak with Buzz afterward to receive his level 10 Friendship Reward, Buzz Lightyear's Space Pack, and conclude the quest “The Definition of a Hero.”

Disney Dreamlight Valley is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
