Disney Dreamlight Valley boasts an array of lively critters inhabiting each of its biomes. Players can give these critters their favorite foods, increasing their affection with the player and enabling the player to befriend them. Once the player has maxed affection with a critter, they will unlock it in their collection, and it can be equipped as an accompanying companion.
One such companion to consider is the Sunbird, found in the Sunlit Plateau biome and available in five distinct coloration. Here is everything players need to know about finding, feeding, and befriending these critter companions in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
All Sunbird Varieties in Dreamlight Valley
Disney Dreamlight Valley features five unique Sunbirds which can be found in the wild in Sunlit Plateau and befriended to unlock them as companions:
- Emerald Sunbird
- Golden Sunbird
- Orchid Sunbird
- Red Sunbird
- Turquoise Sunbird
There are two additional Sunbird varieties, the Pink Whimsical Sunbird and Blue Whimsical Sunbird, that can be obtained only by purchasing them from the game's Premium Shop for Moonstones, Disney Dreamlight Valley's paid currency. These Sunbird variants do not spawn in the wild and cannot be fed or befriended. Instead, they are immediately unlocked as companions upon purchase.
How To Feed Sunbirds
Sunbirds are one of the easiest critters to feed, as they will readily approach players hoping for a floral treat. When a Sunbird is within acceptable range, the player can interact with the critter and select a suitable food to share. Like other potential companions, feeding a Sunbird its favorite food paves the path to quickly and efficiently befriending and unlocking them as companion pets. A companion can be fed any number of times in a day but will only increase affection and give a reward with the first feeding.
Offering the critter's favorite food will not only maximize friendship point earnings, but also allows players to receive the best rewards for their efforts. Feeding a Sunbird its favorite food can earn players the highest affection reward and the chance to receive a Memory Shard, containing a Memory Piece, Night or Dream Shards, or a Motif Bag. Conversely, providing only a liked food results in less affection and may yield a Memory Shard, Seeds, or Materials (Vegetables, Crystals, etc.). Once all Motifs or Memory Pieces from Sunbirds have been collected, Star Coins or other rewards are given in their stead.
All Sunbirds Favorite Foods
Players can increase friendship with Sunbirds by offering them flowers. Unlike other critters, who generally have only one favorite food item, each Sunbird will accept a variety of specific flowers as their favorite foods. Players can discover a Sunbird’s favorite food by checking the colors of each bird’s wings.
Critter | Favorite Food |
---|---|
Emerald Sunbird | Any green or yellow flower (Green Passion Lily, Yellow Bromeliad, etc.) |

Unlocking And Equipping Sunbird Companions
