When Disney Dreamlight Valley players first discovered the Mysterious Golden Potato, no one could have predicted that it would lead to potatoes of all different colors, including a Blue Potato. For those that want to collect all of Dreamlight Valley's mysterious and controversial potatoes and complete the secret potato quest that accompanies each one, the Blue Potato is a necessary step. Thankfully, this Potato's quest isn't quite as time-consuming or difficult as the Orange Potato, but it will still take quite a bit of running around.
If players feel like they are out of the loop, Mysterious Golden Potato can be discovered in front of the vault inside Scrooge's Store. At first, no one knew what to do with it, but now other colorful potatoes have been found in Dreamlight Valley, and each one has a secret quest that players need to complete along with it.
Starting the Blue Potato Secret Quest
To start the Blue Potato quest, players first need to find the Blue Potato. This is one of the easier colorful potatoes to find, as it is simply sitting on the floor in Ursula's aquatic Dreamlight Valley lair. Players should warp to whatever fast travel point is nearest to Ursula's house, head inside, and pick up the Blue Potato. Players will now need to collect a series of strange blue items, many of which require the player to walk on water, a feat only possible thanks to the Blue Potato making the player feel lighter.
Getting the Blue Shell
The Blue Shell is found in Moana's realm, but it is difficult to reach. From the spawn point, turn right and follow the sand to the edge of the water. Look for a small blue shell in the sand between two palm trees, as shown in the image above.
As long as players have the Blue Potato in their inventory, they will be able to walk out into the water. There is an invisible path that players must follow in order to get to the nearby island.
Invisible walls will somewhat guide the player in the right direction, but there is more than one path. Players should aim to be on the right side of the rocks leading up to the island.
After reaching the island, pick up the Blue Shell needed to continue this quest. The next item needed is a Blue Starfish.
Getting the Blue Starfish
The Blue Shell item description references the sounds of a distant ocean, a hint for players directing them toward the island where Dreamlight Valley players rescued Ariel. Take the raft over to that island and walk over to the sandy peninsula to the left of the spawn point, as shown above.
Head straight out onto the water and follow another invisible path forward and to the left. Eventually, players will hit an invisible wall and need to turn right. The Blue Starfish should be visible from this point.
Head straight towards the Blue Starfish and pick it up. This will continue the quest and allow players to find the next blue item, a Blue Book.
Getting the Blue Book
To get the next blue item, go back to Dazzle Beach and enter the magical cave from the quest called "With Great Power" about retrieving the Orb of Power. Heady all the way to the bottom to find a pool of water. Stand to the left of the carved stepping stone, as shown above, and walk out onto the water.
Players should be able to see the Blue Book easily from here. Walk in between the two arches to reach the Blue Book.
Pick the Blue Book up, and players will be one step closer to solving the mystery of the Blue Potato. The next item players need to find is a Blue Gem.
Getting the Blue Gem
Now warp to the Sunlit Plateau and enter the Vitalys Mines; the Blue Gem can be found within. Take the shortcut path to the right (if this is not unlocked yet, continue progressing through Dreamlight Valley's main story and Scar's quests) and continue along this route until reaching a set of tracks.
Follow the tracks until coming up to a hallway filled with bioluminescent mushrooms, as shown above.
From here, turn left instead of going down this mineshaft. Eventually, the track will fall off what looks like a dead end.
Using the magic of the Blue Potato, walk on the invisible path to the left of the broken track towards a minecart full of glowing gems.
Walk across the gap and grab the large Blue Gem lying on the ground. This is the final blue item players need to complete the Blue Potato Secret Quest.
Obtaining the Brilliant Blue Potion
Now players need to take all these strange blue items to a specific spot within the Vitalys Mines. If players are feeling lost, they could always reference a map of the Vitalys Mines. Backtrack a bit towards the same hallway with the glowing mushrooms. Run down this hallway until the path splits, and then take the right path.
Players will notice a glowing spot in a pool of water next to two minecarts at the end of this hallway. This is the location where all the blue items must be taken to.
Interact with the glowing water spot and place all five blue items in the five available spaces. Doing so will grant the player a Brilliant Blue Potion. This is but one of four colorful potions in Dreamlight Valley at the moment. There's no telling if there will be more colorful potatoes and potions in future updates or what purpose these potions will serve.
Players wanting to solve this mystery for themselves should take note of the item description for the Brilliant Blue Potion which says it "shimmers with revitalizing power."
