In addition to Scar and new resources, the first major update in Disney Dreamlight Valley added new recipes into the game. Whether it is crafting decorations or cooking, there are plenty of new things for players to create. A good example of this is Root Beer, which is listed under the dessert section of meals. It is one of the new recipes that was added into the game with Update 1, and it is obtained by progressing through the new Story Quest Nature & Nurture. This guide will show players how they can make Root Beer in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

How to Make Root Beer

Root Beer is a three-star recipe and only takes three ingredients for Disney Dreamlight Valley players to make it. The three ingredients needed are one Ginger, one Vanilla, and one Sugarcane. Of these ingredients, two are ones that grow on their own in their respective biomes while the other has to be grown or purchased. Ginger can be found growing in the Forgotten Lands, and it looks like a small green plant just like with other spices.

Vanilla grows in the Sunlit Plateau, so players can easily gather some as they work on the new Story Quest. The final ingredient, Sugarcane, has to be purchased pre-grown or as seeds from Goofy's Stall at Dazzle Beach. If Disney Dreamlight Valley players choose to grow it themselves, it takes seven minutes for it to be ready for harvesting.

What Is Root Beer Used For?

Aside from restoring Energy, Root Beer is used for a quest. During Nature & Nurture, Disney Dreamlight Valley players discover that apparently Night Thorns wither away when exposed to sugary carbonated beverages like Root Beer. In order to remove a large bramble of Night Thorns in the Vitalys Mines, players will need to cook up some Root Beer. That said, normal Root Beer will not do the trick. Players will need to make Extra Fizzy Root Beer which is made with a special kind of Ginger that is obtained as part of that Quest. Extra Fizzy Root Beer is a special quest version of the soft drink, and unfortunately players will not be able to make it again.

Beyond the Story Quest, now that Root Beer has been added to the game there are several other potential uses for it beyond restoring Energy. Just like with almost every item in the game, Root Beer has a chance of being one of the daily favorite items for the 18 Disney Characters that are currently in Disney Dreamlight Valley. There is also a chance of it showing up as an order at Remy's Restaurant. Other uses aside, Root Beer restores less than 1,000 Energy, so there are many better meals to rely on for regaining Energy.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
