One player has spotted that Disney Dreamlight Valley includes a tragic scene from Disney’s The Lion King. A cross between Animal Crossing and The Sims, Disney Dreamlight Valley launched into early access in September 2022 and has quickly become a hit with fans of all ages - though existing fans may be bummed to be reminded of one tragic moment during their play sessions.

The game allows players to create their own virtual home and interact with familiar faces from across the most recognizable House of Mouse franchises including Disney animation and Pixar properties, though there are a few notable characters still missing from Dreamlight Valley. The game also allows players to unlock certain memories, or moments from past feature films and add them to their collections.

As spotted by ssfailboat on Reddit, developer Gameloft has introduced one of the most iconic and upsetting scenes from The Lion King. The image in question has been taken right from the 1994 animated feature, and the scene depicts Mufasa, Scar, and Simba in the immediate aftermath of the infamous valley stampede. The memory can be unlocked in the usual way, with players having to complete certain tasks in order to obtain fragments of the image.

Reading the comments under the post, it would seem that the inclusion of the image has reopened childhood wounds, with many replies featuring crying emojis or denial of the scene altogether. While the image is undoubtedly one of the more scarring moments of the film, including a moment from the movie does seem rather fitting since a new Lion King area will come to Disney Dreamlight Valley in the April update. The update will bring Simba and Nala to the game, joining Scar who has been available for quite some time.

While the game is in its early access phase, players do occasionally come across various bugs and glitches, most of which end up being comical in nature. One player was walking around their park and found Mickey Mouse in a compromising position with Prince Eric. Still, these early teething problems, haven't stopped gamers from enjoying their time in the highly customizable game world.

Thanks to the community of players regularly reporting these bugs, Gameloft is working to quickly stamp them out. The developer has been issuing regular patches for Dreamlight Valley as it gears up for a full release later in the year. Once the title is ready for its 1.0 release, it will launch as a free-to-play game across all platforms.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
