Even though the main storyline of Disney Dreamlight Valley has reached its conclusion, the game is not over yet. Gameloft has plans to update this game regularly for the foreseeable future, and that means new features and new characters. A recent road map also implied that there will be a new story starting in late 2023.

But in the meantime, there are plenty of things for Disney Dreamlight Valley players to look forward to now. In addition to the DreamSnap Challenge, players can also add a new character to their village roster. Here is how to unlock Vanellope from the Wreck-It-Ralph series.

Talk to Scrooge

To begin the quest to unlock Vanellope, find Scrooge McDuck and talk to him. He claims that he saw a ghost at the castle up near the fountain, and he asks players to look into it. This begins the quest "The Haunting of Dreamlight Valley".

Go up to the top floor of the castle where the fountain is to see Vanellope glitching out. She doesn't know how she ended up in Dreamlight Valley, but it is causing her to glitch more than usual. In order to help her, players will need to take a photo and participate in the DreamSnaps Challenge. This ends the current quest and begins "Faith, Trust, and Pixel Dust".

How to Participate in the DreamSnaps Challenge

On the Event page, players will see a new section below the current Star Path called DreamSnaps. It is currently unclear how long the current challenge will run, but the objectives for the challenge will change over time.

How DreamSnaps works is that players must decorate an area of their valley with furniture that has the tags specified by the challenge. At the time this guide was written, the mandatory tags were as follows:

  • Playful (x5)
  • Familiar (x5)

Styles will be suggested to help make it easier for players to know what they need to use. In this case, Modern and Wreck-It-Ralph are recommended. The image above depicts examples of items that met the criteria to progress this quest. While going through furniture, it is possible to filter it by what Universe it is from along with the tags associated with it.

Players do NOT need to win the DreamSnap challenge to progress this quest. When taking a selfie, players will have the option to submit the photo they took to the DreamSnap Challenge. Once players are satisfied with the image they took and have submitted it, the quest will update.

Return to Vanellope

While talking to Vanellope, she breaks the fourth wall and confirms the existence of other Dreamlight Valleys (AKA other players). She needs help anchoring herself to this Dreamlight Valley. In order to do this, she will need a beacon.

Fortunately this is not something that players need to craft. The "beacon" is basically just her house. Leave the castle and look for a good spot to place Vanellope's house. It only costs 4,000 Star Coins to build the house, which doesn't take long to earn. Once the house is finished, talk to Vanellope to complete the quest.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
