How to Cook Pickled Herring in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Multiple recipes use Herring in Disney Dreamlight Valley, and they are very similar. To ensure the player creates the correct dish, in this case Pickled Herring, they will want to use the following ingredients:

  • 1 Herring
  • 1 Lemon
  • 1 Onion
  • 1 Herb (any)

These exact ingredients ensure that the player does not accidentally create one of the game’s similar dishes such as Arendellian Pickled Herring or Marinated Herring. The key difference between the two Pickled Herring dishes is the requirement of Garlic in the Arendellian version, so leave out that ingredient to cook Pickled Herring.

Pickled Herring is a four-star recipe that restores a whopping 1742 energy and sells for 431 Star Coins.

How To Get Ingredients For Pickled Herring

The most difficult ingredient to acquire for making Pickled Herring is, perhaps unsurprisingly, the Herring itself. However, it is one of the game’s common fish. As long as the player is fishing in the right areas, they should be able to procure a decent supply.

Herring

Herring can be obtained through Fishing in white pools located in the waters of the Dazzle Beach and Glade of Trust biomes. It is advised to bring along a companion who has the Fishing role, especially one at a high friendship level. A companion who has reached the maximum friendship level (10) will ensure an additional fish is obtained with every catch. The player can also receive Herring as one of the possible catches from Moana's boat.

Lemon

Lemons are a readily available fruit that grows on trees in the Forest of Valor and Glade of Trust. The fruit on these trees has a fairly rapid respawn rate, allowing players to harvest them frequently. Players have a chance for a bonus yield when the tree emits a vibrant yellow glow, granting additional fruit based on the player's button-mashing skills.

Onion

To obtain Onions, players must plant Onion Seeds and nurture them until they mature. These seeds are available for purchase at Goofy's Stall in the Forest of Valor, at 50 Star Coins per bag. It's important to note that Onions require a significant amount of time to grow, so players will have to diligently water their crops. To enhance the yield, players should bring a companion proficient in Gardening before gathering their grown crops.

Herb

Any herb can be used as the final ingredientThere are five herb options available: Mint, Ginger, Basil, Garlic, and Oregano. The player can select Garlic as the herb ingredient and will safely prepare regular Pickled Herring. However, it's important to note that combining Garlic with another herb will yield Arendellian Pickled Herring instead.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
