Disney Dreamlight Valley’s A Rift in Time expansion introduces an all-new Royal Tool, the Royal Hourglass. This powerful scepter is capable of bending time itself to procure ancient artifacts that players can use in an assortment of new crafting recipes. Players will also require these materials to upgrade their standard tools to handle new obstacles and collect items in the expansion’s new region, Eternity Isle.
However, the core functionality of these tools remains unchanged in A Rift in Time. Players will still rely on each of their Royal Tools to perform the same activities they did back in the Valley, including Fishing, Gardening, Digging, and Mining. Eternity Isle’s three biomes each feature four areas which are unlocked using Mist, a new form of currency earned by completing duties and collected using the Royal Hourglass.

Disney Dreamlight Valley: How to Get Ancient Cores (& What They're Used For)
Uncover pieces of ancient technology and unlock fantastic upgrades in Disney Dreamlight Valley: A Rift in Time.
Within these new areas, players can discover all new ingredients and crafting materials, including new gemstones. Blue Zircon, and its rarer Shiny variation, are among these new additions in the expansion. Here’s where players can find these gemstones in Disney Dreamlight Valley: A Rift in Time.
Where to Find Blue Zircon & Shiny Blue Zircon
Blue Zircon and Shiny Blue Zircon are exclusively obtained via mining in The Lagoon area of the Wild Tangle biome. Players will encounter mineral veins throughout each of the biome’s four areas. However, Blue Zircon and Shiny Blue Zircon are found only in those located within The Lagoon.
The Wild Tangle, alongside the Glittering Dunes, is unlocked upon completing the quest “The Sands In The Hourglass.” This grants players access to the biome’s first area, The Grasslands. To access The Lagoon in the Wild Tangle, players must first remove the barrier to The Grove area using Mist. The Lagoon is the most expensive area of the Wild Tangle to unlock, and to access these areas the player must spend the following amounts:
- The Grove: Players can unlock this area by interacting with the barrier and paying 4,000 Mist.
- The Lagoon: Players can unlock this area by interacting with the barrier and paying 10,000 Mist.
Once unlocked, players will gain access to rare materials exclusive to this area, including Blue Zircon and Piranha, and can also find and befriend two exclusive Capybara: Gray Spotted Capybara and Red and White Striped Capybara. The player will need to locate these little guys and take their photos with Mirabel to complete the quest, "A Letter for Antonio," giving players even more reason to unlock this area.

As with all such gemstone variants, Shiny Blue Zircon is significantly rarer than Blue Zircon. While these gems will sell for more Star Coins at Goofy’s Stall, players may wish to hold onto them, as there are much easier ways to earn Star Coins.
What are Blue Zircon & Shiny Blue Zircon Used For
Blue Zircon is used in an assortment of crafting recipes in Disney Dreamlight Valley: A Rift in Time, typically to introduce its beautiful blue color to furniture. Shiny Blue Zircon, however, do not currently have a use other than being sold at Goofy's Stall for 2000 Star Coins. Again, though, this isn't recommended as they may have use in a future update, and it's far easier to earn money by selling prepared meals.
