Disney’s latest life-simulator and adventure game, Disney Dreamlight Valley, has gained massive popularity among Disney and non-Disney fans alike. As Dreamers explore the magical world of Disney Dreamlight Valley, they come across a bunch of iconic Disney and Pixar characters. From Moana to Mickey Mouse, 23 Disney characters have moved to the Dreamlight Valley. While a handful of characters are already unlocked, players will need to unlock the other characters in order to populate the magical valley.

Every villager in Disney Dreamlight Valley is assigned a role when players achieve friendship level 2 with them. But what if players don’t want a certain character to have a specific role anymore? Perhaps players want to hang out with some new character or simply want to increase their friendship level with another villager. Luckily, the new ‘Festival of Friendship’ update allows players to change villagers’ roles. This guide details the process of changing villagers’ roles in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

How To Change Villager Roles in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

There are five roles that you can assign to NPCs in Disney Dreamlight Valley:

  • Mining
  • Digging
  • Gardening
  • Foraging
  • Fishing

These characters help players perform specific tasks and get extra resources. For example, if a player takes Ariel to catch a Here and There fish, she’ll also try her hand at fishing so that the player can have an easier time fishing.

To alter a character’s role, players will need to craft the training manual. Dreamers can find training manuals for every role, such as gardening and fishing, with each having a different cost.

Crafting a Training Manual in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Fortunately, crafting a training manual is a fairly straightforward affair. Below are the costs of crafting the training manuals for all companion roles:

  • Mining training manual: 500 Dreamlight, x2 Aquamarines, x2 Topaz, x2 Peridots
  • Gardening training manual: 500 Dreamlight, x60 Tomatoes, x40 Corns, x20 Carrots
  • Digging training manual: 500 Dreamlight, 20 Pebbles, 20 Sand, 30 Soil
  • Foraging training manual: 500 Dreamlight, x20 Blueberries, x30 Bananas, x10 Basils
  • Fishing training manual: 500 Dreamlight, x2 Swordfish, x10 Herring, x5 Bream.

Once Dreamers have gathered all these items, they will need to find a nearby crafting table to craft the manual. Once done, players will have to give the training manual as a gift to the villager by talking to them and selecting the ‘I have something to give you’ option. It is clear that the developer has kept the costs high to keep players from changing villagers’ roles frequently. While some of these items will be available at Kristoff's stall or Goofy’s, players will have to explore the valley to find other items.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
