Disney Dreamlight Valley's latest update added a highly requested feature to the game, paths with borders. Until now, every path that the player laid down just looked unfinished, as the grass would encroach along the path and make things look strange. Players have been requesting the ability to have bordered paths since the game first entered early access, and those requests have finally been answered. That said, the situation isn't all sunshine, rainbows, and Dreamlight, as many fans are actually disappointed in the new update and the way that paths with borders were implemented.

In order to get paths with borders, players will have to craft them like any other item. Every path type in the game now has a corresponding path with a border that players can make at their crafting table should they have the required resources. This will no doubt help Dreamlight Valley players to spruce up their valleys, but it comes at a heavy resource cost.

Crafting paths with borders is simple, though it can be somewhat material intensive. Just head to a crafting station, scroll over to the Fence & Paving section, and scroll down to find the Path with Border options. There is one for each type of path/road already in the game, and they require the exact same materials to craft as their borderless counterparts. For example, Gem and Opal Road with Border costs one Stone, one Aquamarine, and one Tourmaline, the same as a regular Gem and Opal Road would cost.

Unfortunately, paths with borders aren't as intuitive as fans hoped they'd be. When making a path completely with borders, they act as expected. That is to say, the borders will only be on the outside edges of the path. The trouble is that players can't mix and match a path with a border and a regular Path. Even if they are both of a similar kind, such as Sinister Brick Road and Sinister Brick Road with Border, the paths won't connect.

This may not be a huge problem for new players that are only just now starting to make paths in their valley, but for players that have already pathed everything out and come up with clever ideas to disguise path edges, it's less than ideal. These players are having to gather up all of the resources needed to make their paths again. With any luck, Gameloft will update Dreamlight Valley so that these paths can be used together in the future.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is in early access now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
