As soon as players gain access to the Royal Shovel and the Peaceful Meadow, Disney Dreamlight Valley will start to teach them about Gardening. Carrots are an early-game crop that players will find incredibly useful. While the tutorial does a good job of explaining the basics, there's more to Carrot farming than is covered in this short quest. Players wanting to use Carrots as a cash crop will want to understand some details about the crop, as well as Carrots' other uses as an ingredient.

Carrots are one of the first crops players unlock in Disney Dreamlight Valley, but that doesn't mean they are ever made completely obsolete. Between their fast growth cycle, the low maintenance watering needs, and the numerous uses they have as an ingredient in various other recipes, Carrots are a good crop to grow at any point in the player's adventures through the valley.

Dreamlight Valley - How to Unlock Carrots

Unlocking Carrots simply requires players to upgrade Goofy's stall in the Peaceful Meadows twice. The initial repair of Goofy's stall is here and is free as part of the "Fishing Expedition" quest; the two upgrades cost 800 and 1,000 Star Coins. Beginners to Dreamlight Valley may need to save up some Star Coins.

After purchasing the final upgrade, Goofy will begin selling Carrot Seeds. There is no limit to the number of Carrot Seeds players can buy, but each seed costs 10 Star Coins. Carrot Seeds can also be found occasionally by clearing Night Thorns in the Plaza or the Peaceful Meadow.

Dreamlight Valley - Carrot Growth Time, Watering Needs, and Harvesting Tips

Part of what makes Carrots such a great crop to grow is how quickly they can be harvested after planting. Carrots only take 15 minutes to grow after being watered and only need to be watered once. They'll even grow 10% faster when planted in the Peaceful Meadow. This is a little longer than Dreamlight Valley crops like Lettuce, but that's alright, as it frees up time for the player to complete other tasks.

When harvesting Carrots, it's important to always have a villager with the Gardening Companion Role tag along. If players bring a high-level Gardening villager, they'll occasionally receive bonus rewards from harvesting.

Carrots can be eaten raw to restore 57 energy, but this is almost always a waste of a Carrot. Instead, players can sell Carrots for 44 Star Coins a piece, giving them a profit margin of 33 Star Coins per seed. This may seem low when compared to Dreamlight Valley's powerhouse crops, but it's important to remember that they only take 15 minutes to grow. Finally, Carrots are specifically required as an ingredient in both Carrot Cake and Vegetarian Stew, and even can be used for crafting Snowmen and the Gardening Training Manual.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is in early access now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
