Since Disney Dreamlight Valley is still in Early Access, there is still plenty of room for improvement and quality of life changes. One thing that has been a serious pain point for Disney Dreamlight Valley players is storage. Since cooking and crafting are major mechanics of the game, there are lots of materials that players need to keep in stock.

While the one chest that comes with the house upgrades as players upgrade their house, the only other option players had for storing items was a tiny little chest that couldn't be upgraded. With the new update, players can make a Medium Chest. Here is how players can craft it.

How to Craft Medium Chest

Thankfully the new recipes that were added in the third major update for Disney Dreamlight Valley are already listed when at a crafting station. In order to make a Medium Chest, players will need to craft five Iron Ingots and then gather 25 Hardwood and 1,000 Dreamlight. In order to craft the five Iron Ingots, players will need to gather 25 Iron Ore and 5 Coal Ore.

Hardwood can be picked off of the ground in the Forest of Valor, Frosted Heights, Sunlit Plateau, and the Glade of Trust. Unlike Softwood, Hardwood is a darker brown color. Unfortunately, players cannot get bonus Hardwood if they bring along a companion with the Foraging role, as this only seems to work for ingredients for meals that are picked in the biomes. Once players have gotten all of these materials, they will be able to go to the nearest crafting station and create a brand-new Medium Chest.

How Much Storage Space Does a Medium Chest Have?

Unlike the regular chest that Disney Dreamlight Valley players can craft, the Medium Chest can store up to 32 slots worth of items and materials. The regular chest that has been in the game since the beginning only gives players 16 slots, so this is a substantial upgrade. While the regular chest is still the cheapest and easiest storage to make, players looking for more storage will benefit from having some Medium Chests added to their home.

Unfortunately, there is currently no option to upgrade a regular chest to a Medium Chest. While this may certainly be something added in the future as the game progresses through Early Access, it is currently not possible. The amount of slots does not increase when players upgrade their home either, unlike the chest they start the game with.

Players hoping to customize their brand new Medium Chest are also, at present, out of luck. While the Magic Tool allows players to customize their outfits to an impressive degree, the same cannot be done with furniture and home decorations at this time.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
