Decorating is a major part of Disney Dreamlight Valley gameplay, so fans have reason to be thrilled that they can now change the appearance of the doors in their house. Changing doors may not seem like such a big deal, but players have been getting doors from Scrooge's shop for quite some time now, and until recently, there was no way to really use them. They could be placed as decorative items in the player's house, but they always looked a bit funny next to the default green doors everyone had in their houses.

This functionality was added to Disney Dreamlight Valley as part of version 1.3, called Festival of Friendship. Since then, players have been able to enjoy new additions such as Simba, Nala, and the Fairy Godmother. These updates also come with new furniture items and ways to decorate the player's home, so it's more important than ever to pick doors that match the aesthetic of a room.

Fully Upgrade the Player's House

Before players are able to change the appearance and locations of the doors in their house, they'll need to fully upgrade their Dreamlight Valley living space. This doesn't include purchasing every single floor, as that would be incredibly expensive. Instead, players just need to purchase the three main upgrades to their house by interacting with the Scrooge sign out front.

The first upgrade costs 2,000 Star Coins, the second goes for 20,000 Star Coins, and the final upgrade is a staggering 75,000 Star Coins. Altogether, this process costs 97,000 Star Coins to fully upgrade the house.

How to Change and Move Doors

With a fully upgraded house, players are now able to change both the appearance and the location of their interior doors. To do this, enter the furniture menu, hover over a door, select it, and press "Replace." This is the Square button on PS4/PS5. This will bring up a list of all the door options that players have and allow them to select one to change the appearance of the interior doors. In order to move doors, select the door as one would when moving other furniture in Dreamlight Valley and slide it along the wall.

These doors will still lead to whichever room they did before players made any changes to them and are fully functional. This is incredibly helpful for players that want to vary their rooms by having different styles of doors or simply changing where each door is located. The latest update to Dreamlight Valley lets players place more player homes in the valley, so it seems likely that future updates will continue to expand on ways for players to decorate.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is available in early access on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
